See what mahathir has done to us?

(1) We use ILS as requested by Firefly - Najib Administration has no objection.
(2) Now we implement ILS - Mahathir has alot of things to say - say ILS restrict Pasir Gudang development - and cannot use.
(3) Now want us to implement GPS based approach instrument - isn't it wasting our time and money?
(4) Now want to haggle about taking back control some part of Johor airspace - where it is given to us for airspace control for safe landing and take-off by regional states and ICAO.

So why should we be helping Malaysia economy --- when Mahathir is given us so many problems.

We should further reduce our tourism travel to Malaysia from 16 million visit a year to 12 million to 10 million last year --- and should further reduce it to 8 million visit - while we stay home and spend at home to help our domestic economy.

The loss from this bickering over the ILS :-
(1) Firefly lose RM$20 million a month x 4 months = RM$80 million or S$26 million (due to no flying)
(2) Seletar airport lose ILS installation = someone say about S$1 million --- and now need to install GPS instrument.

--- all because of mahathir trouble-making.

Who lose?
Both lose.

Who lose more? Malaysia !

I read that ILS and GPS (a few different types) are generally the same except that GPS, although also have vertical guidance, it is not considered a precision approach. So with this lesser precision vertical guidance in place, Mr Loke probably thinks building height restriction in Pasir Gudang is no longer an issue anymore and hence lifted the ban over Pasir Gudang.
This is the technical competency of our Malaysian counterpart who hopes to take control of the airspace management over southern Malaysia from Singapore because it is their airspace, which is a fact. But then the plane which they were tracking, lost contact, flew back into their airspace without them knowing or don't knowing, and then finally vanished into thin air is also a fact. If you look at the FIR of Singapore, it doesn't cover southern Malaysia but maybe the very southern tip of Johor and a vast expanse of the South China Sea. Mr Loke is like Mahathir, counting pennies and it is crystal clear that they are finding faults with us.

Regardless whether ILS or GPS, having tall buildings at Pasir Gudang close to Seletar Airport approach is dangerous. So going forward, convert Seletar Airport for use, only for Msian carriers like MAS, Airasia & Firefly, since aircraft safety obviously is not an issue for them.

Sharil Bin Saharudin the msian gov may be incompetent but its people are still our cultural/historical cousins... their safety is our concern too

Michael Cheng Well, Sporeans do fly on MAS, Airasia & Firefly also. So, obviously our people's safety is, as well as theirs, are of no to them concern either.

So my next advice to both peoples, or everyone for that matter, is to avoid MY carriers - as Msian govt is apparently not interested in aircraft & passenger safety.

At the end of the day you Bodoh will lose out. Your Pilot needs to be retrained and new euipment installed. Bet you this Bodoh will soon come back and say to Singapore lets keep ILS.This Bodoh Anthony Loke is no match for KBW.
