If a lawyer could point to a state constitution which states that the Sultan has the absolute right in appointing the Mentri Besar, I would rather believe the lawyer than the PM who does not honour the rule of law.
Mahathir is looking for a CM who will report to him and do his dirty work to get even with Singapore rather than work for the people Johor, which the Sultan is demanding.

And yes, according to the State Constitution, it is the monarch who appoints the MB!

Mahathir thought he is "above the rule of law".
He can anyhow interpret the rule of law, flip-flop signed agreement and dishonor agreement.

Malaysia Malays has forgotten Mahathief is infact a Indian. His Championship for Malays is a gimmick to stay on power. Now he will try to remove all sultans remaining power as he once did as PM.

Royals should meet up to work united in preserving their legacy.

Borneo should seek equal power or secede.

Prince Ismail can be Chief Minister to protect Johore interest.

This old man will carry all hatred & chaos to his grave, remembered as worst tyrant in Msia. There is never peace with him around. May be Trumps can invite him over as chief trouble advisor to help Bolton.

Yes this Mahathir is a dictator, he could do it then but not now under PH umbrella. It puzzles me why people are applauding him for becoming the oldest PM when he should rightfully be enjoying the fruits of his labour if he had done a good job. But no, he has to be back to fix the mess he created but putting the blame on others except on himself. Why should a rich country like Singapore take advantage of a poor country like Malaysia in pay 3 sen per thousand gallons of raw water? Why should the rich EU bully a poor country like Malaysia by banning palm oil? The correct question to ask should be why is Malaysia a poor country?

Sundar Kannan Let me educate you on how much worse India is. Enlighten on me on what happened to Goa, Junagadh, Sikkim, Kashmir and Hyderabad. On how your flithy country intervened in Sri Lankan and Maldivian elections.

Ah yes. If India can bomb Pakistan for a domestic terror incident, China should bomb Dharmasala for instigating riots in Tibet. And maybe the PLA should be sent to Kashmir to resolve the Kashmir dispute like how you sh*t eaters sent troops to resolve the Doklam incident.

The 1962 war happened because you drew lines on the map, claimed China is occupying your territory and threatened to attack Tibet.

As for the SCS and debt woes, continue spinning. Call a territorial dispute an invasion, call holding 10 percent of total debt a debt trap. I suppose the US is in the Chinese debt trap since China holds 10 percent of total US sovereign debt! And what can India do about it even if said propaganda is true? You can't even defeat Pakistan!

There should be check and balance in any government to safe guard the interest of all the citizens. In this case, there are constitutional guidelines for the appointment of a CM for Johore, so all parties should ad-here to what is good for the betterment of all the Johoreans.

Lu Pin - we presumably have the most comprehensive doctrine call "ownself check ownself" which was learnt from a book callef "Best govermance for Dummies". Familar? Yellow color book which casuals buy to learn basic skills and written by commoners.

Ownself also says
1. No blames culture
2. Not enough talents to have 2 parties for a first world country
3. Mee Siam no hum

Lucky Malaysia still has Dr Mahathir or else Malaysia would have gone to the dogs. Remember the long lists of unsolved crimes: 1 MDB; The murder of the Mongolian lady; The disappearance of two pastors; The murder of the state prosecutor and many more. These don't happen in isolation. Each and everyone of it has a link to why it happen that cumulates to the ultimate defeat of Najib. Admittedly, Malaysia has still some unsettled constitutional issues (which should be clarified by the Supreme Court) but with the 1993 admendment to the Constitution of Malaysia that was passed by the Malaysian parliament with the aim of stripping the legal immunity of the royalty, this has clearly paved the way for the monarchy to be subject to the rule of law. Period!

This royalty is grumpy his plan to make Rm 70 billion from the China developer led Forest City project near Tuas has been stopped by the change in M'sian government. His billions from the sale of coastal state land to other China companies is also at stake.

Seems he is losing sight that his Johor Constitution will always play second fiddle to Federal law.

Honorable, fair and just men? Don't talk nonsense. As royal, they are not supposed to be directly involved in business but they did it openly. They got huge allowance from the government to act as royal but they branch out to sell the lands to foreigners.

On top, they indulged themselves in politics. Before the last general election, they openly backed the thief Najib to continue as PM so that there is huge kickback from him.

This kind of royal might as well be detroned and abolished.

A royalty that indulges in vulgar displays of their wealth while his people struggles with life is called caring? A royalty that beats up other people is held in high regard? A royalty who continues to engage in politics and think they can pardon themselves for any crime they commit is fair and just?

Nah. You're just displaying "The-enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-friend syndrome. Your hate for Mahathir is such that you will have high praises for anyone who opposes him, regardless of how vile they are themselves.

Wahida Mohamat, believe S'pore is not concerned about positive challenges from Johor but more about unreasonable leaders from M'sia like the vintage Old M who keep harping on unfounded issues to disrupt S'pore's survival.
Trust S'pore can cope with positive challenges from all our neighbours (not just M'sia) to work with them and prosper together.
