(1) If Trump want a genuine trade deal with China - Trump must understand China's "red line" and not cross it.
Then there is a chance for the trade dialogue to continue.

(2) Trump must know that extreme pressure through "threat of tariff on China will not work".

(3) China's GDP is US$14 trillion and 75% of her GDP is domestic consumption (which work out to US$10.5 trillion). Only US$3.5 trillion of China's GDP is derived from trade (where US only make up of about US$500 billion of China's trade).

(4) Thus Trump's threat of 25% tariff will not coerce China's to concede - as its trade with US form only 3.6% of the total China GDP.

(5) Conversely, China can do tremendous damage to US economy, tech advancement and forming new multi-lateral trade deals with other Countries at the expense of US.

Can tell the tariff man is now worried and lost of face. China opts not to reply to his demands for a meeting in Osaka on the last week of June at the G20 summit. To save his skin, he is now slapping another 300 billion in tariff. Very scare indeed.......... Haha ha

President Xi don't even need to bother about this american "trumpeting wolf". Just go Japan for G20 meeting then just leave after that.
This will be enough to punish this barking trumpeting wolf.
Prexident Xi now got this trumpeting wolf by its balls. It (wolf) is jumping and screaming around .. can you guy hear its scream ....

Trump feels insecure now, because if the trade deal doesn't get through, he is likely to lose his second term. Xi, on the other hand, has all the time he has. Trump really underestimates Xi and. China this time.
Trump doesn't have the luxury of time, doesn't get support from all his administration doesn't get support from his allies, worst of all, doesn't have support of his own corporations and farmers.
Xi, on the other hand, has the luxury of time, get completely full support from his party, get almost full support from the citizens of China, got moderate support from his allies.
It is pretty obvious who will blink first.
