Economic turbulence has been whacking us for years, way before global events unloaded more problems. Our young local graduates have been screaming out for jobs, but their cries have fallen on deaf ears. The government is not focused enough. Time for the Private Sector to sit down as a grouping and come up with a White Paper, quickly, to tell the government how, together, they both can create the jobs, with fair remuneration packages, and career paths, for our neglected local graduates. Do not push blame to global happenings. Think out of the box, with priority on creating jobs for our people, instead of doing mega projects, or investing big time, overseas.

One minute he said create 10000 IT jobs, Bala on tge other hand said Singaporeans should work as hawkers, old man once said there are plenty of cleaning toilet and table jobs for older people. This is definitely election year trying to buy Singaporeans' votes.
These 10000 IT jobs definitely taken by FTs since most young Singaporeans are serving NS. NS Singaporeans after ROD and graduates will unlikely to get senior position in this DISG office due to reservist commitment every year thus again benefit FTs who will be paid higher than Singaporean.

So many government linked businesses are competing with private businesses and distort the market and making market price mechanism dysfunctional. Many are working for government directly or indirectly. Many businesses earn a large portion of their revenue via the governmental funded schemes like CHAS, PA, Pioneer, Merdaka, skills future, Active SG and also schemes like MEDISAVE. These are unsustainable and costly schemes as it requires a lot administrative expenses to put place proper documentation and handle the frequently audit requirements. The businesses are operating in a very unproductive and inefficient manner. Various subsidy schemes have effectively making private businesses vulnerable to any policy change make to those schemes.

(1) Instead of bashing the MTI Minister in the forum here - I think Singaporeans are very lucky to have Minister Chan CS - to have help us anchor many major trade initiatives and secure Singapore into the future.

(2) Among the trade initiatives are :-
- Chongqing CCI - that connect the China Western Silk Routes from Land road to our Singapore seaports --- so that China will not bypass our ports.

- Delta region, Greater Bay area - to join Singapore ports - and cushion against going by the Arctic route - bypassing our ports.

(3) Digital Trade Network Platform - that digitally connect Countries all over the World to facilitate trade - and come to Singapore's ports.

(4) Those people who like to bash the MTI Minister --- should vindicate those works that the MTI Minister has done for Singapore --- else many people will have lose their jobs and business here.

So how would the private sector be benefitting? When I say private sector I do not include "privatised" sector.

Weng Cheng Ye -
(1) Private sector can invest in those areas and tap to the big China market.

(2) Our vibrant port activities due to linkage to those China areas - will bring more business to port activities, logistics, banking services, warehousing, shipping, manufacturing, service sectors, tourism, retail etc.

(3) Who say no benefit to private sector?
