SAF's fully digitalised 'Hunter' Armoured Fighting Vehicle commissioned
Look like the Hunter is a vast improvement over the older APC (Armor Personnel Carrier).
(1) This Hunter can fight a tank - as it has 2 anti-tank missiles to take out a tank.
Previously, such armor carrier will have to run or call support from its tanks to engage enemy tank if contacted.
(2) Hunter is control "fly by wire" - means it can be drive via computer - and commander can take over the driving of the APC if driver is inactive.
(3) Respond to enemies is through laser warning system - and need not rely on soldier eyeball to detect enemies.
(4) With 360 degree camera - vehicle commander, driver and soldiers need not expose themselves to drive, navigate the APCs or lookout for enemies.
(5) The speed of 70 kmph is a vast improvement over older APC of 50 kmph.
(6) The C4 digital network platform will make Hunter and the whole force a coordinated and integrated fighting force.
(7) The ability to launch unmanned aerial drone and ground drone - will extend soldiers capabilities.
