  “Lawmakers are there to monitor government operations,” he said. “Unless you’re now telling me the police are not part of the government.” Obstructing police work and “monitor” is not the same thing. You can stand far away to monitor not block the police to discharge their duties. Police take instructions from their commander, not you. If the Hong Kong police now is facing a lot of stress. Every weekend like battle field. They are responsible to protect the innocent Hong Kong citizen who safety is been compromised by those “peaceful protester” and also safeguard public property. Look at how much things those “peaceful protester” destroy. How much MTR need to spend on repairing or replacing those damaged facilities.

  I don't know why the media is so biased. They keep demonizing the HK police for brutality. In America, the cops can shoot you for the faintest reason like looking suspicious and usually if you have dark skin. In Europe, police beat the hell out of protestors.   HK mediator are the best, their excuse to 'mediate' actually trying to buy time for the protesters to escape from police arrests an beatings, they are considered hk heroes but seen as obstructing police duties, in fact, they risk injuries to help the young front liners protesters, no wonder the police can't contain their emotions, esp. taking orders from a 'thuggish regime'.

      Normally, a mediator comes from the side of the police since they are tasked to normalize the riot situation. If somebody outside the force comes in and demands that they be the mediator then these persons are surely FAKE mediators who have hidden agenda. They should be cuffed and put away
