Bersatu’s Johor chapter to Singaporeans: Ask your government to review water prices

(1) Mahathir and Johor leaders - stop telling lie that you only received 3 sens of raw water.
(2) Mahathir and Johor leaders - start to honor all signed international agreement and contract.

This is the actual computation of water price :-

(1) Cost of rain water to Malaysia = RM 0 sen
(2) Malaysia charges Singapore for rain water = RM 3 sen
(3) Singapore cost of treating water = RM$2.40 sen (per 1000 gallons).
(4) Singapore charge Malaysia only = RM$0.50 sen (per 1000 gallons).
(5) Malaysia sells the water to Malaysia consumers = RM$3.60 sen (per 1000 gallons).
(6) Singapore directly subsidises to Malaysia = RM$1.90 sen (per 1000 gallons).

Malaysia does nothing and make = RM$3.10 sen (per 1000 gallons).

It is morally wrong for Mahathir and Johor leaders - who fail to honour sign agreement - has no moral compass - and a poor role model for his people.

Singaporeans will support the Singapore Government to take Mahathir and the Johor leaders into International Court for breaching the Water Agreement.

Can Mahathir and Johor leaders read the below forefront money that we have committed for the water agreement -- instead of harping on the 3 sens :-

====
Dr Balakrishnan noted that in 1990, during Dr Mahathir’s first prime ministership, PUB and Johor had signed an agreement to construct the Linggiu Dam to increase the yield of the Johor River.

Johor owns the Linggiu Dam, but Singapore, he said, paid more than S$300 million for its construction and operational costs, as well as compensation for the land used for the Linggiu Reservoir, the potential loss of revenue from logging activities, and as a one-time payment of the lease of that land for the remaining tenure of the 1962 Water Agreement.

“If Malaysia had exercised the right to review the price of water in 1987, Singapore might well have made different investment decisions on developing the Johor River,” he said, pointing out that overall, Singapore has so far spent more than S$1 billion on water projects in Johor.

He said that this has helped to ensure that not only PUB’s waterworks, but Johor’s own waterworks can reliably draw water from the Johor River.

"In this period of dry weather, Singapore continues to provide Johor additional treated water upon their request," he said.

"We do so out of goodwill, without prejudice to our legal rights under the Water Agreement. "

Johor draw 16 million gal of treated water which Singapore had subsidised $1.90/1000gal.
Everyday Singapore has been giving$30,400 to Johor.
That works out to $11,096,000 per year.

Indeed, how can anyone trust a national leader who signs a trade agreement, then a few years later, threatens to force a change of the terms of the agreement just because he feels like it?

Johor's Chief Minister is planning to stop buying treated water from Sngapore. He's going to cause Johor to lose money! He should know he can never treat 1000 gallons of water at less than 50sen. Johoreans will one day have to pay more for water to pay for his mistakes!

Singaporeans should support the Singapore Government - to teach Mahathir, Osman Saipan and this Bersatu’s Johor chapter Mohd Solihan Badr a lesson by :-

(1) Indefinitely postpone billions of dollars of ringgit in Iskandar industrial park investment.

(2) Urge Singapore investment to withdraw and re-invest their business and investment elsewhere
Singapore investment stand at US$26 billion or RM$105.3 billion.

(3) Singaporeans should stop tourism travel of Johor that contribute S$16.5 billion or RM$50 billion to Johor Economy.

For a start, I will like to urge Singaporeans and Singapore business to seriously consider the above measures - to protest Mahathir and these 2 Johor leaders from bullying Singapore - and start to honour international agreement and contracts.

Swee Meng Ling -

We have invested about US$62 billion in Indonesia in total (much more than our investment in Malaysia of US$26 billion).

Singapore was the largest contributor of foreign investment in Indonesia in 2017, investing US$8.4 billion (S$11 billion), or 26.2 per cent of total foreign investment in Indonesia. The Republic was followed by Japan with US$5 billion and China with US$3.4 billion.

Singapore is doing very well in Indonesia industrial park - the Kendal Industrial Park.

Indonesia’s Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto said he has offered the development of three industrial estates in the country to Singapore.

Our bi-lateral relationship with Indonesia is extremely well.

--
But not with this Mahathir -- who is only good in picking fight.

We should conscientiously reduce investment, tourism, trade and business as long as Mahathir is the PM and who is bent on picking fight with Singapore.

Singaporeans is urging Johoreans to reject their leaders like Mahathir, Osman Saipan and this Bersatu’s Johor chapter Mohd Solihan Badr :---
(1) who has no moral values, fail to honor international signed agreements and contracts, failing to respect international law.

(2) who always want to pick fight with his own people like Badawi (accusing him of failing to build crooked bridges), Anwar (jail him for sodomy based on lies and now admit they lies just to nail Anwar) and Najib (accusing him of corruption in 1MDB).

And pick fight with Singapore - who contribute immensely to Johor and Malaysia Economy.

--- Singaporeans urge Johoreans to reject these leaders - who fail to promote friendship, good relationship that will help to promote business, investment, trade, tourism visit, mass rapid transit infrastructure.

But instead pick fight and poison the relationship between Singaporeans and Johoreans --- that hurt the relationship between Singapore, Johor and Malaysia.

Johoreans should reject these few leaders who in fact hurt them.

Under Mahathir as prime minister --- you see what he did to Malaysia finances :-

"sovereign wealth fund Khazanah had incurred more than RM6 billion (US$1.46 billion) in losses."
in just 1 year when he take over.

And Mahathir need to sell many sovereign fund assets - to finance his huge budget deficit.

Now Mahathir try to divert attention - of this fail policy in revitalising malaysia economy and finance --- and deliberately want to pick fight with Singapore.

Johoreans should reject Mahathir, Osman Saipan and this Bersatu’s Johor chapter Mohd Solihan Badr -- who only good at playing games --- but fail to contribute positively to the economy.

Malaysians should demand Mahathir to step down as prime minister --- he is harming malaysia.

1. It is not morally wrong to continue to uphold the agreement signed years ago.
2. It is conceivable that Singapore government may pay more but the new price should not be stipulated as an entitlement. Singapore government (and people) may give a price raise as a sign of good will and brotherhood
3. Singapore will then raise price of the treated water sold to Johor. It is only logical that we stop subsidising the price of treated water to Johor.
4. Mishaps with water shortage is not due to the water price. It is due to weather patterns and water management (of Johor). Having lots of raw water does not mean Johor will not suffer.
5. There is no bundle deals. History and current situations have clearly told Singaporeans that Malaysia is not sincere in reaching a win-win agreement. They seem to want the cake and eat it too.
6. Singapore will dismantle and decommission all water treatment centers if Johor stops water supply unilaterally. Or, Johor may choose to pay back all investments and cannot say they have no money.
7. Johor must spell out how the additional money earned through a price increase will benefit the Johor common people. Or will this profit go into the pockets of a select few people?
8. I can also be a minister. Right?

Its clear by now that Mahdey is not going to abandoned his zero-sum, 'beggar-thy-neighbour' approach to the water negotiations.

His insidious, constant harping of 3 sen/kilomgd of raw water, half-truth is galling proof of this.

At 1st, Iwas willing to be more than fair and look favorably at their demand, but given their constant harping of half-truths...well not anymore.

So I urge our delegation at the talks, to not make a single concession on the water agreements until the other side agree to come to the table on the basis of 'win-win' for all parties.

After all, wat can they do? Tear off the agreements? They are well aware of the repercussions facing them if they do so. Else, they would have done so long ago.

So negotiate if you want but dont entertain any ideas of concessions until they adopt a 'give-and-take' approach for the benefit of all parties.

The argument in it most fundamental form, stripping away the subsequent souped up conniving gains, is a set of agreement between two parties in which a precious resource has been turned into massive profit at the expense of the other. What was or had began in “humane value” has been contorted into an “inhumane merchandise” by greed and self interests. It appears righteous, from a business perspective only but far from righteous, as a steward.

It is so unbecoming as a leader crying out playing with public sentiment hoping to gain support tell ING your people you are doing your job. Do you even know maths or Malaysian education syllabus doesn't include this subject. In any case, why do you think the Johor Sultan( a generous and fair person ) has not said anything? In fact his son, TMJ Sultan Ismail, even thanked Singapore for always acceding to Johor's requests for supplying more treated water in times of need and wished for the good friendship between Singapore and Johor to last forever. If Singapore is subsidizing Malaysia on treated water, should we be asking ourselves why are we doing that? Can the money be put to better use within Singapore instead, like delaying GST hike?

Singapore and Malaysia can meet and come to a conclsuion on the penalty for breaking the contractual agreement. Unless we are self-sufficient, the penalty will likely be paid back to Malaysia based on the new water price.

It makes one think if this has to do with Tuaspring with Maybank been the biggest creditor.

Actually i dont feel guilty at all, its all because back in 1962, some people in Malaysia didnt think FAR ahead about inflation and set the price to last until 2061. Which i didnt think anyone will set a price to last 99 years. so they can only blame their ancestors back then i guess.
I guess they can now only tell their grand children to dont forgot to adjust the pricing in 2061. but by 2061, maybe singapore will be self-sufficiant and not need to buy raw water anymore. Until than, see you in 2061.
