Mr Lee said today, there is no shortage of people and groups who conduct coordinated campaigns to produce fake news to misinform and mislead, for reasons such as financial gain, to sow social discord or even to radicalise people.
Social media platforms propagate such fake news together with factual stories, and are either “unwilling or unable” to take action to block the misinformation, he said.
--
There are so many fake news propagated by social media and internet - that public, common man in the street - are tricked to believe in fake news.

The only solution to debunk fake news are :-
(1) Produce factual information by reliable new sources, official channel
(2) Provide facts with strong arguments to debunk fake news
(3) Use common sense, logical deduction, critical thinkings, analysis and reasoning.
(4) Use mathematics, science, physics, technologies
(5) Possess Wisdom with Insights --- to be able to differentiate truth from fake news

Tips and tricks of posting in social media :-
(1) Stay objective and focus on the topic of discussion.
(2) Try to be factual
(3) Provide good arguments based on facts
(4) Need not be emotional or attach to what other's say - if it is not factual, personal attack, rude or doesn't make sense.
(5) Avoid personal grudges or do personal attack
(6) Social media is just an impartial forum for discussion - and correcting wrong views, fake news that affect the Society, our Country and the World we live in --- so that we live in a more peaceful, harmonious and collaborative World.

We cannot stop anyone from posting, or the manners in which how people post.

But eventually people will change as long as we don't react to the mannerism of how people post.
The more we react, the more you get the respond you don't want.

看破,放下,自在,随缘。

The Cardinal Values in a constructive social media postings are :-
(1) Right Thoughts
(2) Right Speeches
(3) Right Intention
(4) Right Actions

--- not polluted by Ignorance (leading to fake news), Hatred (result in Anger) and Greed (for recognition).

Where social media is read by "people all over the World" - where we can influence National Events and even World Events ---- as long as what we write make sense, solve problems, provide solutions, write with Wisdom.

You can shape National Policies, you can influence World Events - if you are credible in what you write - as CNA is now a Global online news platform and social media platform.

So if we want people to respect our viewpoints, influence by our views and ideologies and seriously take into account what we write in the social media - write with :-
(1) Right Thoughts
(2) Right Speeches
(3) Right Intention
(4) Right Actions
--- free from rude words, personal attacks, insults, personal grudges - and write objectively, focus on the subject of discussion, and provide credible solution with Win-Win outcome.

All is well, n well intentioned. These Online Falsehood laws.

One thing i may be a bit confused when PM Lee said: "This includes requiring them to show corrections or display warnings about online falsehoods so that readers or viewers can see all sides and make up their own minds about the matter."

Is that intuitive? R we demanding ALL news creators to put up at least 2 arguments or 2 points of views when reporting news?

It will b interesting to see what form the laws eventually take.

The main concern of the critically minded is that this type of laws must NOT become a legal way to silence responsible criticisms of the power-that-be.

By the way, we r actually talking abt "lies" when we said: "fake news" right? If so, let's just call it: lies! Aren't Sgp good at calling a spade a spade?

KS Lim Him having inferiority complex doesn't mean he can continue his nonsense. We all know he is mentally unsound, poor and lonely, old, uneducated and abandoned, but these are not reasons to be nonsensical continually. Hopefully the law steps in soon.
