Yes a person who attain Deep Jhana Samadhi and Fruition in meditation - can last for 3 to 4 days. The maximum 1 week. Beyond that, the meditator will become body sariras.

Thus to be on the safe side, 3 to 4 days in Jhana Samadhi without water and food is the maximum allowable. Thereafter, the meditator must attempt to come back to mundane world from Jhana Samadhi or Dharma Protectors should attempt to coax and remind the meditator to come back and not bask in the bliss of Jhana Samadhi and Fruition.

Dhyāna (Sanskrit; Devanagari: ध्यान) or Jhāna (झान) (Pāli) means meditation in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. It refers to various states of samadhi, a state of consciousness in which the observer detaches from several qualities of the mind. In this state one has become firm and stable and everything that is appearing is noticed but not identified to.

Why do meditator in Jhana Samadhi especially in Nirvana Fruition refuse to come back to mundane world?
Because when a meditator is basking in the Bliss and Peace of Nirvana Fruition, the meditator experience :-

(1) Peace and Bliss that is constant and permanent unlike in mundane world whereby life is unsatisfactory, is unpleasant, is sufferings, is impermanent that can be pleasing but can also have vexation, anger, sad, happy etc.

(2) Where space is vast, no boundary, all-encompassing unlike in mundane world where humans are restricted by the land spaces we dwell in, where human strength, stamina are so limited.

(3) Where no birth, no death, no fear, no sufferings where there are no physical body subject to sufferings, no karma is the rule of the day unlike mundane world where there are fear, the are birth, sickness, old age, unsatisfactoriness of life, sufferings.

(4) Where the Universe is all-encompassing and all-inclusive unlike mundane world where self-centredness is the order of the day.

(5) Where running image of video vision of past and future zoom past the mind unlike mundane world where vision is based on the human 5 senses whereby knowledge is based on what we see and hear.

Meditator in Nirvana Fruition has actually gone home the REAL HOME unlike in the mundane Universe where humans or 6 realms sentinent beings dwell in Illusion Home that are temporary where we dwell in and does not belong to us because the moment humans or 6 realms sentinent beings kick the bucket the physical Universe does not belong to us.
