So for the next decades into the next centuries, what should be the Economic Model for the World?
It should be a "Co-operative, Competitive Model" - this harness the best of the 2 Economic System :-
(1) "Co-operation" - open Economic Pie, open Business Opportunities, maintain individual niches - ensure every industries, every organisation there are sufficient rooms to survive, make decent profits, create and maintain jobs.
(2) "Competition" - ensure "market efficiency" - within the framework of "Co-operative competition" - without killing off one another's industries and companies - that keep a decent organisation profits and maintain jobs for the staff and workers.
Only then, it will ensure Society stability, harmony and prosperity - for every Countries in the World (because everyone has a job, can feed themselves, can feed their dependants, can feed their families).

It is naive to think that United States would welcome competition. They just kill their competitors one by one over the years, Spain, Germany, Britain, Japan and Soviets Union. Now it is China, the biggest competitor and United States viewed it as the biggest threat and clash of civilisation whom must be destroyed. Of course, United States could do it in the 1980s when the country was still very rich and strong. But now United States is bankrupt with us$4 trillions debts which they have to resort to ponzi scheme to keep it alive.

Don't you know that China has 5000 years of civilisation that have nurtured many other civilisations thru free trades along the belt and road, your grandfather and ancestors benefitted from it although they never expected to have a descendant like you. Augustine Teo China close their doors to the outside since the beginning of dynasties. It is nothing new. The last time they opened their door to the west, their dynasty collapsed.
However the time has changed, encroaching on other people land is not the way to expand the well being of your people, trade is the panacea to all good things to come. In order for free flow of trade you should stop blocking others from your market but yet want to sell to other people market. Why should you sell so much to my market but I am being block by you. If China opens her market, not only the American can benefit, the whole world will benefit. So to be fair, all parties must open their market and remove their walls (learn to be like Singapore and be an open economy and encourage free trade). The position Singapore take is correct. Neutral and open.

There are many Chinese inventions and technologies such as compass, paper making, gun powder, printing, porcelain etc that spread to the west through the belt and road and helped to nurture the western civilisation. Japanese also benefitted greatly from the Chinese civilisation by copying the Chinese language, agricultural skills and other technologies and develop further. China always adopt the open policy to help others as shown in the seven voyages by admiral Zheng He to the west. That's true cooperation and assistance to the world trade.

John Low dude, USA will never bother about Singapore. It is not a threat to US since we don't have any thing to offer besides the people here. We don't even produce scientists! But China is a totally different animal all together. With huge population and strong economic influence, it is threating the political influence of the west. Fire Wall is to prevent spreading of fake news which Singapore government has similarly launched the anti fake news laws but China government never ban any American company from doing business in China.
