Is Singapore an "ally" of US. At best its neutral
(1) Which trading partners or trading allies in the World - are happy with the trade war and tariff launch by Trump?
Please name them.
(2) Trump has been holding a big stick to whack all his trading allies and trading partners :- Canada, Mexico, China, Japan, EU, Vietnam, India --- and will soon come down to Malaysia.
(3) Even Singapore with trade deficit against US - is also listed as currency manipulator even though Singapore don't manipulate our currency for trade advantage.
(4) EU, NATO - the biggest allies with US - just ask them are they happy with Trump?
Heard they want to form their own close bloc - and keeping US out - because Trump has piss off almost all his trusted allies or partners.

He is just equalizing things. But the Singapore one he seems to get carried away. Maybe its just a warning shot for slanting too much to China

Raneir Fohnob -
(1) Trump and Trump administration need to be reasonable and professional in carrying out its foreign policies and economic policies.
(2) The World is big enough to evolve out of harm way - especially if Trump-led US keep hitting out at all his trading partners and trading allies.
(3) Just remember that US form only US$19 trillion GDP out of the World US$81 trillion GDP - and US debt is US$23 trillion.
(4) If worst come to worst, the World may dis-entangle themselves away from trade, business and investment with US - and US become isolated in the World.
(5) The World prefer the next US President to be one that is reasonable, sensible and able to work with the World - and not work against the World.
(6) US trade deficit against the World is slightly less than US$900 billion against its entire GDP of US$19 trillion - but Trump yet go all the way out to hammer all its trading partner when US trade deficit is a mere meagre sum of 4.7% out of its total GDP.
(7) This show how petty Trump is against the World - and the World will not stand by lazing around to be bullied by Trump.
(8) When Trump try to bully the World into submission, the World will pushback and at the end Trump will end up with nothing.

(1) Singapore will always remain "neutral" and should not take sides.
(2) Singapore role is to promote peace and should at all time play an arbitrator and mediator role - so that prosperity and wealth can be promoted.
(3) It is a no brainer that US and China should not confront and clash militarily - because by doing so - it will be a MAD proposition (Mutually Assured Destruction).
(4) With weapons that are unstoppable such as hypersonic missiles, nuclear weapons, carrier-killer, satellite killer etc --- mutually assured destruction is a guarantee - and "end of humanity" is a guarantee.
(5) Under such context, why should Countries take side - for "mutual destruction"?
(6) Only constructive engagement between US and China - is the only way to resolve problem.
(7) And constructive engagement through trade, business and investment are "peace guarantor" to ensure confrontation and conflict will not take place.
(8) The moment trade, business and investment are remove from mutual engagement - it is difficult to ensure military confrontation and tension will not arise.

This ex-employee of Boeing is probably more interested in asking the Asian countries especially Indonesia not to go after Boeing for compensations and accept the ill fated Boeing 737max which has serious inherent design problems. Failing which, United States will just put you on their blacklist.

It's best that Singapore be neutral. The island cannot be a lesson to others about taking whichever side. It'll be gone to ashes.

S'pore's stance is always consistent and clear, never take side and abide by international laws.
With good intention, S'pore initiated this annual Shangri-La Dialogue regional defence forum since 2002 for top level defence personnel / think tank to hold regular discussion over the table to avoid uncontrollable conflicts especially between military powers.
Though just a "little red dot", trust many countries (including China & US) recognise and appreciate that S'pore is always doing our utmost out of good faith to galvanise peace and harmony for the good sake of this world and human beings.
