I hope the 2 smiling faces will be translated into constructive outcomes for both the Seletar airport and the Port Limit in accordance to International Law.

Just look like the Malaysia younger Ministers are genuine to strive a good relationship with us.

We hope our future neighbour relationship is a Win-Win outcome - and not the current confrontational one started by the old man.

It's simply ridiculous, illogical & unreasonable for M'sia to say that ILS would hamper the construction of tall buildings at Johor's P. Gudang. Please note that S'pore have so many tall buildings in Yishun, Sembawang & Woodlands including residential flats & condo which are just next to Seletar Airport but none of these construction suffered any height constraint from ILS when P. Gudang is so far away from Seletar Airport ? Mr Loke, please get all your facts & figures right before you come for negotiation arising from your unnecessary dispute. Don't simply pluck something from the air please.

They are talking cock no doubt. But, dun forget it's their airspace. They dun owe anyone an explanation just like they dun owe us our Seletar Airport's survival. We should stop acting like they owe us a living and focus on negoitations. Hope KBW is up to that task.

It is not correct to say that they dun owe anyone an explanation on Johor airspace - because practically every minute - there is 1 plane take off and land in Changi Airport via Johore airspace - above Pasir Gudang and above Tanjung Langsat Port.

If they continue to mark Pasir Gudang as restricted area --- they are putting all their Malaysian commercial aircrafts and other airlines (going to KL, Penang and Langkawi plus some ASEAN airports) at risk --- because the take off and landing will be converge above Tanjung Langsat Port - raising the big risk of mid air collision above Johore airspace.

This will jeopardise the air economy of Malaysia.

ICAO may step in --- and may redirect all flight path into Singapore control FIR (flight information region) along South China Sea - taking a slightly longer route - and there goes Malaysia airspace - where all their southbound flight to Singapore, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand
as well as Phuket, Koh Samui, Bangkok, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, China Kunming will no longer ply Malaysia airspace.

They have more to lose than us.

It is not about Seletar airport or firefly --- it is the whole of their southbound flight path - that impact many of their own commercial airlines and other international airlines.

And KL to Singapore and vice versa --- is the busiest flight path in the World.

Ricky Lim your argument rests entirely on 1 assumption - that they do not hv the capability to manage that airspace well. It's just your assumption. They do not agree with that assumption. They say they can manage THEIR airspace. Can u argue w that? Do they still owe u an explanation why they wish to manage THEIR own airspace?
LikeReply42m
Ricky Lim
Breeke Lo - They cannot manage the aircrafts from their airspace landing into our airports - as they have no visibilities into our taking off and landing from Changi Airport (where we have so many international flights land and take off every minute - they will collide into these aircraft - this is ICAO requirement) or Seletar Airport.

Just like Bangkok FIR cannot manage their flight landing into KL airport - because they can't see aircraft landing and take off from KL airports. If Bangkok FIR control their aircraft to land in KL airport when they cannot see a flight taking off from KL airport - both aircrafts will collide over the KL airports.

KL FIR have to handle flight from and to Bangkok landing or taking off from KL airport.

It is the same thing here - all this are common sense.

The old man just want to make thing difficult.

Ricky Lim u still not getting it. That's what he wants to see - closure of Seletar Airport. Without operations at Seletar Airport, those landing problems will cease to be a problem.

Breeke Lo - Then we can migrate all Malaysia flight path to Singapore FIR via South China Sea - as a last resort.

This include all flight path to Johor from Changi Airport and Seletar Airport will be terminated. They make up about 10% of our total flight in and out of Changi Airport.

Changi Airport flight path - will go east and then turn north via South China Sea like other international flight path.

Seletar Airport flight path - can turn east (before it hit the territorial border - and then turn north to South China Sea. (But this need very close coordination with Changi Airport as Changi has very high volume flight).

Alternate flight path is fly southward to avoid our airbases, turn east and then turn north via South China Sea.

Malaysia south bound flight path completely close.

Seletar airport no need to close. In fact more than 60 companies - foreign and local air companies are in operation before the new seletar airport come into operation.

That means all our airports - forbid any aircrafts coming from Malaysia (Johor airspace) to land in our airports - they have to take Singapore FIR airspace from South China Sea.

Problem solved. (The old man lose everything
overnite). 一煲清袋。

Changi Airport - not affected. (All Malaysia bound flight - migrate to our international flight path - abit more congested).
Seletar Airport - open for business.

Firefly can fly into Seletar Airport - not from Johor airspace - but from Singapore FIR airspace.

Ricky Lim All these problems mean nothing to them. In fact, it is why they are now holding us by the balls. That brings us back to the point - know where we stand on this and stop behaving like we hv some divine right to succeed at the expense of them. No win-win can come out of this if all we are thinking is our own success.

Breeke Lo - That is why, our Ministers still talk to them with smiling faces.

We do not want a zero-sum game with our neighbor - if they genuinely want good relationship.

We can sense it that their younger Ministers want good future relationship - that is why we don't want to make things difficult for neighbors ---- win-win outcomes are still the best solution --- both prosper together.

But if the old hat want to play punk --- we can also give them "very sharp elbow" - don't think we can be bullied.

Ricky Lim agree with this only on the airspace issue - it's just a business matter that can be resolved with a win win deal.

As for the maritime intrusion, it's a matter of sovereignty and national pride. No amount of propsperity can replace that.

Breeke Lo - We will have to deal with it as it comes.

(1) According to UNCLOS - any Countries with coastline will have 12 nautical miles as its Territorial Boundaries.

Given that Singapore and Johor have less than 12 nautical miles, this clause does not apply.

But the 2nd clause applies.

(2) Divide the Straits into half - and the mid-way line will be the Territorial Boundaries for each Countries.

Under 2nd clause, Malaysia intruded ships have indeed intrude into Singapore Territorial Boundary - as it is inside our half of the Territorial Water.

Their ships indeed has intruded into our half.

What "heart to heart talk" and "fruitful and constructive meeting". In actual fact this meeting is again a repeat of what was previously agreed..nothing changes and it will not be for any subsequent meeting. Even for that unproductive meet, Anthony Loke is being quoted by Khaw to say that he would take his suggestion back to his Cabinet colleagues which to me, is an indication that the MY side is playing a time wasting game. Dr.M will never accept that the disputed water belonging to Sg and even boldly said that the recently intrusion by CM of Johore was not wrong because he was on 'international water'! Unless Sg can produce some strong evidences that can prove beyond any doubts that disputed water belongs to Sg, I cannot see any good would come from meetings after meetings.

Kelvin Leow Looks like you'll need to get updated on what Seletar Airport is today, and the impt role it plays in our ambition to be SE Asian's airport hub.

Redevelopment of Seletar Airport began in 2007, headed by JTC. Why JTC? Because it is to support Seletar Aerospace once it's completed. Today, there are about 30 aerospace companies including Rolls-Royce and Bombardier, who are operating in Seletar Aerospace, carrying out maintenance and repair operations in Seletar Airport for customers who would land there.

Aerospace in this region is a multi-billion industry. Otherwise, why do you think the old snake so free to disturb us there? Now you know why we will bleed billions if no planes can land there?

All these meetings and talks will not bear any results simply because MY has entrenched itself into an unshakeable position. MY cannot be seen to back down as this will be deemed as loss of face. Mahathir stirred the cesspool and no way is he going to back down. Unless SG is prepared to make sacrifices.

Mr Khaw, why are you wasting your time talking to this bodoh. Does he or for that matter that 93 year old snake really understand what you are talking. His cabinets are full of nuts. So it is going back to square one again when he comes back after CNY. Tell all those bodohs you have eaten more salt than they have eaten rice. You can all of them including that 93 year old snake you can put all of them into your pocket.

Mr Khaw can twists this Anthony Loke's head around three time without him knowing it. Go back to discus with Cabinet. Who in his Cabinet know about airspace and ILS.
