"The two delegations had constructive discussions on a set of positive recommendations which will be submitted to the foreign ministers of Malaysia and Singapore for their consideration when finalised," said a joint press statement by the two foreign affairs ministries on Monday.

Let's hope is a Win-Win outcome.
Let's hope it is accordance to International Law and Singapore Territorial Water Sovereignty is maintained.

If this happen, our calm, measured and restraint approach to resolving both the maritime and the airspace issues --- are the right approach.
We would have avoided an unnecessary military clashes.

Certainly the Malaysian side know that it will be a loss on both sides - with Malaysia suffer greater loss :-
(1) Singapore air passengers contribute the largest number of passenger traffic to KL airport via the Johor airspace - a whopping 4.1 million passengers (many are business travellers). That will be RM$1.238 billion at stake.
The 2nd largest is Jakarta with 2.5 million.

So if the ILS over Pasir Gudang port cannot be resolved - it will slice 4.1 million passengers off from KL airport.

(2) Johor Tanjung Pelepas port is just opposite the disputed Tuas naval intrusion.
If anything ugly incident happen there, Tanjung Pelepas port will get the 1st hit and will impact its 8.8 to 10.5 million TEUs shipping business.

So it is of great interest for Malaysia to do a constructive resolution to both the Seletar ILS and Port Limit issues --- for mutual benefits and mutual prosperity --- rather than taking the current confrontational stance.

If Seletar airport don't operate :-
(1) Malaysia Firefly will lose RM$20 million per month.
(2) Malaysia Berjaya Air will lose RM$20 million per month.
(3) Malaysia Malindo Air will lose RM$20 million per month.

So if delay until Mar 31 - Malaysia Firefly, Berjaya Air, Malindo Air will have lose 4 month (4 month x RM$60 million per month = $240 million for 4 month).

So if delay until May 31 - Malaysia Firefly, Berjaya Air, Malindo Air will have lose 6 month (6 month x RM$60 million per month = $360 million for 6 month).

In July 2017, Ignatius Ong Ming Choy CEO of Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and a respected member in the aviation community, had raised the issue of an ILS which has not been in installed in Seletar, to the Singapore civil aviation authority, in which Firefly believed that the lack of an ILS impacted on Seletar airport's aim to be "a proper commercial airport" as the ILS will improve aviation safety and enhance operational efficiency of descending aircraft into the airport during poor weather, night landing or adverse visibility.

Ignatius Ong had represented Malaysia Airlines in Kuala Lumpur and Beijing as a leading member of the responsive MAS crisis management team that dealt directly with traumatised relatives of those in the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

The ban was imposed on Firefly after Singapore published the Seletar's Aeronautical Information Publication for the Instrument landing system on 1 December 2018 that covers Johor airspace over Pasir Gudang, an act which Malaysia claimed violated its sovereign territory.

The ban impacted the flight operation plans of two other Malaysian-based airlines, Berjaya Air and Malindo Air which also planned to commence operations between Seletar and Malaysian destinations in 2019.

The ILS implementation is all about air safety - - as it will help to improve air safety during poor weather, night landing or adverse visibility.

People politicised everything.

KL airport ILS also guided Bangkok bound flight.

So there is alot of money at stake --- and this should be an impetus for Malaysia to resolve both the :-
(1) Maritime dispute
(2) Airspace dispute - where Seletar Airport only carry Malaysian commercial aircrafts - Firefly, Berjaya Air and Malindo Air - and no other commercial flights flying into Johor airspace over Pasir Gudang.

with Singapore.

The longer the dispute on the above drag on, the more money is burnt - and this will hurt both sides - with Malaysia burn a bigger hole.

You think those bodohs will concede even an inch of water to Singapore. Do they understand what is territorial waters? They have said their boats are in Malaysian waters. So what is there to move say that 93 year old snake.

It is pointless for the working group having 'constructive discussions' when their PM, Dr M, is a destructive one.

If Mahathir adamant to practise unreasonable exorbitant demands against Singapore soft and fair diplomacy manners..then whatever constructive approaches is not workable, in contrast it may turn up worst.
Both sides need to be fair and reasonable, mutual agreeable settlement. If that doesn't work both sides must adhere to international court final decision. That's all.
