290 meters though is the highest building in Singapore - is still very far away from the World tallest building - which is close to 1 km vertical in height.
Tall building is highly challenging in many aspects.
(1) Lift from ground floor to the top floor - is challenging. Lift for such tall building cannot travel from top to botttom - there are usually landing in between and need to exchange lift.
(2) Fire fighting measures is another challenging thing. How do fire engine fight fire for such tall buildings? No fire ladder are tall enough to reach the middle and top floor of the tall building. Will need to rely on fire fighting mechanism within the building to fight fire. Dubai has quite a number of fire incidents at high floor for their tall buildings ---- it can be very frigthening. Thus fire-rated walls, doors, windows need to be in place to slow the fire while fire fighting mechanism kicks in.
(3) Provision electrical services and IT services to such tall building will be very challenging - for tall buildings. Many intermediate rooms will need to be provided due to the distance and many more equipment need to be put in place to support the services.
(4) Foundation to support the tall buildings need to be carefully studied and soil condition to support the buildings from swaying need to be made. Note :- for tall buildings it is mention that when strong wind blow, the buildings can sway ---- not sure is it rumour or the architects try to poke fun at us.
(5) Crane to transport equipment to the middle floor and top floor - will be very very challenging - as no crane is tall enough to lift equipment.
(6) Top floor surface area become smaller as it go higher - to prevent building toppling down.
(7) Fire evacuation - to run from top floor to the ground - will be an exercise that make atheletics grimace. Try running up and down 100 floors.
There are still many more challenges ......
