Both should cool down during the dialogue and avoid exchanging of sharp words.
Both should look at common ground rather than harping on the differences.

Both should begin with words such as :-
(1) We have differences between us.
(2) There are also common ground between us.
We should amplify common grounds and see how to resolve differences.
This will be a good start.

If both started the conversation by :-
(1) saying - you have hurt our interest by ....... - then it will elicit corresponding sharp responses ---- and the dialogue will not be fruitful.
Thus, both sides must know ---- that if both continue to lockhorn - both will end up in conflict that hurt both interest.
Avoid sharp exchanges, try to start with looking at common ground and how to amplify them.
After warming up, then slowly introduced the differences and see how to resolve them without needing to be emotion.
