I think China can play a role in persuading Saudi and Iran - to reconcile along the line of Sunnis and Shiites reconciliation.

More effort, more success.

But from Supramundane viewpoint - the karma seeds of Sunnis and Shiites did not come down from China's roots - as Buddhism and Taoism has no lineage to Islam (only Christianity biblical roots has lineage to Islam).

Thus, the effort may not be as effective as US efforts - due to path of the karma seeds.

Nevertheless, any effort of good deeds is still a worthy effort - it will help.

In fact, China is more successful with the West - because of the Silk Road - as there is a lineage of Buddhism with Christianity - specifically Jesus acquaintance with Buddhism along Silk Route.

Dharma lineage :- Buddhism - Christianity - Islam
(this is the lineage of the karma seeds).
