The statement :-
"deep historical and heritage value. It was there where modern Singapore’s destiny was made. It was in the basement of the house where more than half a century ago that the momentous decision to give birth to the ruling People’s Action Party was made."

deserve deep study - on how to keep this very part of Singapore heritage - in fact the birth of modern Singapore - whether this very heritage should be preserved.

Of course there is a will of Mr LKY want this to be demolished - so that future Singaporeans will not "bad-mouthed" it - as human has a tendency of "have, have-not" mentality.

The only very painful compromise - to respect the will of Mr LKY and the need to preserve the extremely important part of Singapore heritage - is to demolish it and then build an exact replica of 38 Oxley on the same spot.

If not do a "symbolic demolish" eg. take down a part that need repair - to fulfil the wish of Mr LKY and preserve the rest.

睹物思人 - is a very powerful image that can ingrained into a person's mind.

Walking and experiencing a heritage - will have such an effect.

Potentially, this part of heritage can be a unifying force when a crisis or crunch come -------

And if this very heritage that can elicit powerful image = that can unify or prevent a crisis from happening - is gone --- then it will be very unfortunate.

Eg. when Buddha passed away, Buddha sariras, Bodhi Tree in which Buddha gain Enlightenment, Buddha's birthplace and Buddha's shrine that preach Dharma - are preserved as National Heritage ---- and this evoke very powerful unifying force for Buddhists all over the World - to practice Buddhism.
