The annual Edelman Trust Barometer showed overall trust in the four institutions it measures - the government, media, business and non-governmental organisations - falling more steeply in the United States than in any of the 28 countries surveyed.
Trust in US institutions, particularly the government, has plunged in President Donald Trump's first year in office, according to a leading survey released on the eve of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The result of the survey is not surprising given that - "trust" is directly related to "integrity".
If the beholder of the office demonstrate "very little integrity" === how will "trust" be established?

Good character, integrity and competency - are important attributes to gain trust.
If none of the above exist - naturally trust will plummet.
