You are teaching them to evade taxes?

You mention "The govt is not pushing these cashless payments for nothing they want to know how much these hawkers earn." --- so what is your underlying meaning for mentioning this?

You mention "In the end nothing is for free hawkers will have to pay more. No escape. How hawkers dont be suckers" ---- this is not entirely true. Taking cash and managing cash also have cost and overhead - in terms of depositing, managing, distributing etc.
Most companies have decide to move cashless like giro to pay salary and reduce cash payment because benefits overweigh cost.

The purpose of cashless payment is to ensure work productiveness, cost efficiency and cost effectiveness - without the hassle and inefficiency of the need to manage and handle cash, coins.

What you say is not true.

We are trying to encourage digital economy - and you are trying to deter, draw up conspiracy theory to deter digital economy - which is another big sector that will not only benefit the whole economy - but also business and create new jobs for Singaporeans.

To you - you only think about "angkat" the Government.
To me - you are just trying to destroy the Economy - by preventing digital economy from taking off, preventing new business creation and creating jobs.

Tremendous resources have been committed to draw up the ITM for digital economy, cashless payment and fintech. New Businesses and jobs will be created as a result.

What you have posted here - is trying to sabotage
the new digital economy, new digital businesses and new jobs for Singaporeans.

If you think "angkat" so be it - i don't have to convince you.
If you think everything is free - then you are very naive.

Read carefully - the benefits of cashless has been calculated to outweigh cost of managing cash - if you "understand english".

The cost of managing cash include :-
1. arranging workers to bank in cash, coins, take out cash, coins.
2. employing security guards to deposit and withdraw cash - if cash amount is big.
3. keeping cash register, count cash, put in safe etc.
4. cost of printing cash notes and mint coins - are also charge to people and businesses vs cost of cashless.

And if anyone who know simple math multiply this will hundred of thousands of SMEs, hawkers --- the cost saving is exponential.

Ricky Lim well, it would be naiive to ever suggest that any entity would do anything purely altruistically, or that the govt is immune to doing wrong. There is sure to be something that the govt benefits from, as per all policies pushed down in the past. Nothing wrong in itself, but sometimes we need to see the whole picture, pros and cons together as surely there are drawbacks that must be addressed, as nothing is ever perfect. If you strongly believe that every policy the govt pushes is always right and therefore should never be questioned, please remember the stop at two policy.

ビンオマール宗作 - I am defending my idea.
And this idea i believe will help the Economy to tackle the disruptive technology - create new business and new jobs.
The Government find this idea useful and adopt it in Budget 2016.
Now many ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam plus China, India -- are surging ahead with digital economy and cashless payment.
We will be left behind if we still don't catch up.

Disruptive tech has disrupted many traditional industries - causing firms to go out of businesses and many Singaporeans to lose their jobs. ITM (Industry Transformation Map) is the antidote to tackle disruptive tech, to restore businesses and jobs. Digital Economy is integral to ITM. And digital cash or cashless payment is essential to Digital Economy to function.
Have anyone see cash payment in eCommerce, eTransaction? Digital Economy will not work without cashless payment or ePayment.

Imagine if overseas buyers want to buy our goods and services through our online web, without digital ePayment how to pay? Pay with cash? Then how do our Digital Economy pick up if naive people insist on cash and coin - and don't try to adopt ePayment?

And some naive guys try to sabotage 搞破坏 --- are doing the Nation a disservice - hurting businesses, our jobs and the Economy.

When disruptive tech hit, businesses force to close down and people lose jobs - kpkb.
Now use ITM, Digitial Economy and Digital Payment to bring back businesses and jobs - again kpkb. Wonder if these naive people are trying to shoot themselves on their own feet.

Jason Wee even if your conspiracy theory is true, so what? What do I stand to loose? I stand to gain much more from not having to queue up to draw cash and carry them around and deal with pesky coins. You can go enjoy your queuing if you want. I hope you also pay for public transport and ERP by cash?

No matter what, cash (note or coin) is legal tender and should be recognized and accepted by the issuing nation for purchases within the nation.

If technology adds value, and not inconvenience, yes, most people would welcome (I think). But if technology is used to show off and create more problems / issues (i.e. added tech maintenance costs and prolonged (additional) business processes), then it does not make much sense after all.

I still remember the pain of using a temporary cash card at one of the airport terminals for food, which is so unnecessary when cash could be directly collected, without having to obtain a refund of the un-used cash after the meal while rushing to board the plane.

To adopt value-added technology is fine, but in parallel to cash payment as a backup plan.
