(1) N Korea will have sanctions hanging over it - it means hunger, poverty, sufferings that N Korea want to alleviate.
(2) N Korea want security and survival from military threat.
(1) S Korea want hostility with N Korea to end.
(2) S Korea want a better business environment with China by ending Thaad deployment.
Both are military threat and economic threat - that both Koreas want to resolve.
So the "break point" are there - to have a fruitful talks. If not now, it will be the near future.
Both Koreas - don't want war and both don't want nuclear war --- thus the chances of success are still there --- not now, but could be in the future.

It's a ploy by Kim. He wants to send a team to the South for Winter Olympic Games that is why he initiated the talks otherwise you think he would be bothered about it? He is able to catch the weakness of the South Korean because the South always wanted to reunified with the North and as such when he proposed the talks, the South welcomed it!!!

It will come a point where they will break. Internal chaos will erupt.
The sign is, N Korea want to break out from this scenario.
(2) The N Korea leader want his life to be secured and he want his Country lives to be secured.
These are 2 physiological needs, safety needs, security needs - that will make N Korea serious in the talk.

Hope spring eternal. Trump says it will never happen. US and the world refused to accept N korea as nuclear state and N Korea says its nuclear weapons programm is non negotiatable. Where does it lead us to. Is accepting N Korea as a responsible state so hard to do when it is not the only nuclear power in the world. There are far more powerful nuclear nations than N Korea
