"I had a distinct feeling that the young ministers in Malaysia want a fresh relationship with Singapore, without any past baggage," Mr Khaw said, adding that he sensed this during discussions with Malaysian counterpart Azmin Ali on the High-Speed Rail project.
"There is so much we can gain working together. I believe the citizens on both sides of the Causeway also expect the younger leadership of both sides to work together for a brighter win-win future."
So when Malaysia announced that it wanted to defer the project, this is why Singapore "chose not to utilise the full legal extent of the Bilateral Agreement" in the interests of bilateral cooperation, Mr Khaw explained.
When asked what he meant by “past baggage”, Khaw declined to comment, adding, “I leave you to draw your own conclusions.”
---
Singaporeans should stay united behind Singapore Government - and stand our ground against this old man ---- who have "excessive past baggage".
We will wait one year, two years, 3 years or more -- until he pass on.
Then we can work with the younger Ministers next door - for mutual benefits.
Now "We don't give in even an inch" !
Singapore have plenty of leverages against this old man --- we will stand our ground !

It’s obvious that Singapore will win militarily. Malaysia is easy to attack and occupy.
Michael Cheng
conventional warfare no problem. but long-term instability from such a conflict will devastate our economy. eventually it may be msia that prevails.
Breeke Lo
The side that made the first strile loses. Both are FPDA members and as soon as either side is attacked, notwithstanding that the attacker is another FPDA member, the FPDA arrangement is invoked.
The attacker will be easily subdued, and would also face economic sanctions from the world. Due to the high level of dependence of the 2 countries on the outside world, the attacking side will self destruct before it can get its backside warmed on anything it occupied.

Michael Cheng Have you been living under a rock all these years?
Do you realise that Malaysia probably has hundreds if not thousands of howitzers multiple-rocket launchers and mortars stationed in Johore and pointed at Singapore.
Tell us, Mr Military Expert, how you defend against that?

Phil Chee - I am not suggesting that we will attack Malaysia.
But in the current military technology - multiple rocket launchers and howitzers - will have little impact.
Just see the many examples of current warfare :-
(1) Palestinian hurling thousands of rockets into Israel
(2) Yemen rebels hurlings multiple rockets into Saudi Arabia

(3) Operation Desert Storm - where the US forces tackle Iraq incessant Scud missiles.
--- the damages are minimal. But the sides that hurl the missiles and howizter rounds got decimated badly.
I am not telling you how to mitigate and respond to such threat --- but I am telling you right in the face --- sub sub water.
