(1) I suggest we deploy our warships to seal off any more intruding ships along our territorial boundary - and leave a conduit for the intruder vessels to leave.

(2) We need to standby and deploy our F15 and F16 - ready for action - if the intruders ever fire - we will sink their ships.

(3) We should keep our military hotline active - and the diplomatic channel open.

(4) We should keep a military lockdown on the disputed water - via our navies and supported by our air force - to surround, coax, warn the intruders to leave.

(5) Finally, we should adopt the model of resolution of Pedra Branca - to resolve this dispute.

Mr Chan said the younger Malaysian leaders whom he has met since May have all signalled towards closer cooperation, and have agreed that the competition is not so much between the two countries as much as against the rest of the world.
---
We note that based on the interaction of some of our Ministers with some of the younger Malaysian Ministers - there is a desire for closer cooperation.

We hope the younger Malaysian Ministers come to the good sense - that confrontation divide, cooperation unite.

This Tuas dispute - is the cookbook that is coin by the old man - through his "historical baggage" - bringing in the experience of "Pedra Branca" activated by the old man - that greatly hurt bilateral ties and escalate unnecessary tension.

The Malaysia younger Ministers should note that - to improve bilateral relationship - confrontation is never the way forward.
Now inform your vessels to leave amicably - and resolve the issue thru diplomatic channel - and avoid unnecessary confrontation and unnecessary mishaps.

Sharil Bin Saharudin - good response - measured and appropriate.
And good analogy.

That old man is facing "internal tension" - where he has to cancel support for anti-discriminatory rights bowing to the protester demand (and other Malaysians are not happy that the old man bow out under pressure) - and their security forces have to deal with mass rally that can go out of control.

There is no need for us to respond forcibly now. As he is looking for boogeyman to restore his face.

We should be doing what we are doing using "Pedra Branca" model.
This old man is replaying all his "historical baggage" - eg. his proton dream, water dream, pedra branca dream etc.

We can counter it with successful measures - plus minus - and modify along the way.

Most important, we know that their younger Ministers want closer cooperation in bilateral ties ----- we should keep this at the back of our mind --- in handling this dispute.

We should "keep in mind the future" - not "rash response in a moment of folly with anger".

"Measured, appropriate response".

Malaysia welcomes talks with Singapore on maritime dispute: Mahathir

Malaysia Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad speaks at a press conference on Dec 8, 2018.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Saturday (Dec 8) said he welcomes negotiations with Singapore on a dispute over maritime borders between the two countries.
"A lot of people announce their borders off and on, and that causes a lot of disputes, so we will settle the disputes based on legal provisions and our rights," he said at a press conference after a Pakatan Harapan meeting.
"The important thing is that Singapore agrees to a negotiation, until we finish negotiation we cannot give a final answer."
He did not give specific reasons when reporters asked why Malaysia had extended its Johor port limits in October - a move that Singapore has called a "serious violation" of its sovereignty and international law.
Dr Mahathir had earlier said that the new Johor port limits, gazetted on Oct 25, has not "touched" Singapore's border.

Singapore's Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan announced on Thursday that Singapore has also extended its Tuas port limits in view of "provocative developments". Malaysian ships had intruded in Singapore waters repeatedly in the last two weeks,  he had said.
As of Friday afternoon, three Malaysian government vessels were still in Singapore waters despite repeated calls from Singapore ministers for them to leave the area.

MUHYIDDIN CALL FOR TALKS
Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Saturday also said he hopes that Singapore’s dispute with Malaysia over their maritime boundary and airspace over southern Johor can be discussed at the negotiation table.
This is necessary and vital to prevent any unnecessary rivalry between the two countries, he said to reporters after opening the Johor convention of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
"I followed what the Minister of Singapore mentioned a few days ago that they (Singapore) would like to resolve this amicably; so that is a good move. We do not want to spark an unnecessary rivalry that creates a lot of dissatisfaction," he said.

"Singapore-Malaysia relations have been good. It is quite normal (to have problems). Even when I was the menteri besar (of Johor), we had problems (too) but the fact is that both countries want to work together."
"GROUND SITUATION IS TENSE"
Singapore's Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing said, also on Saturday, that with the "risk of escalation cannot be underestimated" in the ongoing dispute.
"The ground situation is tense. The ships are in close proximity with one another and we know that some ships are armed, so the risk of escalation cannot be underestimated. Accidents might happen,” he had said.
"We urge all parties to revert to the pre-Oct 25 status quo ante for things to calm down. And there are ways to do this under international law without prejudice to Malaysia."

Chan also said Singapore welcomes talks to find a "swift and amicable resolution" to the issue, and that in the event of a failure to reach an agreement, Singapore is open to seeking recourse through an "appropriate international third-party dispute-settlement procedure".
Singapore had on Friday turned down Malaysia's proposal for both countries to cease and desist from sending assets into the "disputed area".
“Sending Malaysian government vessels into the area inconsistent with innocent passage, conducting unlawful and unauthorised activities under international law, refusing to leave, then suggesting that Singapore vessels leave the area for talks to happen. That’s not right. Even the layman can see that this cannot be right," Mr Chan said.

Eric Foo ..... That the conflict will be getting worse and go into "war"....In the end, that could be a disaster for both countries. I think nobody want to see this thing happen. And I don't think anyone dare to give order to start the Open Fire "war" instruction. Hope it won't happen.

Expansion of Johor port limits likely needed b'cos the 4 man-made islands created for the Forest City project have narrowed access to the PTP Port serving shipping giant Maersk. Forest City is a project involving an influential contractor, UMNO politicians, the Johor sultan and China's big developer Country Garden..
