This a very real and serious problem.

Imagine a person only have less than 20 years of working life to sustain a family - assume a graduate after National Service - start work at 25 years old and is forced to stop work at 40 years old.

How to raise a family and ensure sufficient saving for retirement?

In the past, majority can work until the official retirement age.

What has caused this to change to such an undesirable consequence?
The hardest hit are the PMET.

Those 40 and above who lost their jobs are in a very dire situation because most people married at about 30 over years old. And their kids are normally very young - 10 to less than 20 years old.
Many are sole breadwinners. The whole family will be in a very difficult situation.

Thus special attention should be focus on those who lost their jobs at 40 and above to help them to find jobs.

Eg. providing incentives to hire this group of people who are also very experience etc.
