(1) Notice that in some shopping malls eg. Nex, the height railing is slightly higher than the waist height.

(2) Unlike in Ang Mo Kio Mall hub, the height railing is about chest height - which is safer.

(3) A person who is taller can tilt over if lean against the railing or if a father or mother carrying a struggling kid at chest high - the kid can easily topple over the railing.

(4) Suggest that in all shopping malls - all height railing should be at least chest height - about 1.5 metre high so that it will be safer for shoppers.

You are correct; railing heights, by building regulations, are generally 90cm to 1.1m high, which for an average height male will be below the central of gravity. That height was meant to prevent children from falling, on the assumption that grown adults will take more care near the railings.

Having said that, carrying a child near railings is not a sensible thing to do. Also, if have to carry a child on esculators, best to carry on the side away from the railing.

Alvin Leong -
(1) Carrying kids on the right side away from the railing in an escalator may not be feasible - because by default, all commuters must stand on the left side where the right side is for commuter to rush through.

(2) I often see mothers carrying baby at chest level - and the railing is low.

Seriously bad luck. Whoever got grazed, take extra care and caution in your thoughts. Can easily develop PTSD. Seek help if you notice your thoughts straying off to uncharted areas of your mind.

RIP for the dead guy.

Too early to assess that suicide due to PTSD is the casue of the fall.

Unker Will I am not talking about the dead guy. Dead guy is dead. Talking about the people that got scared by him when he landed near them. Especially the one that got grazed by his hair when he fell.

I know which part of Ngee Ann City that is. I used to sit around there to eat pizza.

To fall down the ledge, you will need to deliberately climb over the glass panels along the ledge, which requires a lot of effort even for a tall guy, if you know what I mean.

Everybody don't say that! He old man only. Maybe yah he assume, but atleast he trying to make up a reason. At least he thinking. Can think. But cannot SAY it's true. If he actually said it happened and it didn't, bad already.

Looks like Pokémon followers. Many strangers group together in areas and fiddling and playing with their phones. Looks like a strange different world they all are in when you look and smile at them and you think about them as new world monkeys.
