(1) Low birth rates will means :-
- lesser Singaporeans to work for Singapore Economy.
- lesser Singaporeans to defend Singapore.
- Singaporeans get older and lesser young Singaporeans to take care of older Singaporeans.
- lesser Singaporeans to study in JCs, Polytechnics and Universities.

(2) To fill up the gaps to solve the lesser number of Singaporeans - Singapore may need to attract foreign immigrants to maintain the proportion of each races.

(1) Mr LKY was right.

(2) Even the wild idea of one husband and 2 wives - the Japanese way - is not workable and can't solve the dwindling population problem.

(3) Various incentives to encourage birth - can't solve the population problem.

(4) It is the social dynamic of a developed Country - that discourage birth for more children.

(5) Look like attracting foreign immigrants is the only viable solution --- after so many years.

Hello, one Minister said you need a small space, no need too big , to make baby. The garment should advocate A Make Baby Day every day in a month, sure increase productivity like that

After visiting countries which have successfully turned the trend, our high paid Ministers still have not solved the issue. Singapore is "unique" in the way that it welcomes FTs at the expense of Singaporeans, unlike those countries which they have visited. Coupled with aging population and the ever increasing expenses, do they think it makes sense to have more? They themselves who are ultra rich do not have many as well let alone the commoners who are struggling to make ends meet.

Why don't they just admit that the low fertility rate is attributed to their blardy incompetence?

No babies its ok, we have good foreigners to bring babies to singapore, of cos some will turn out to be bad foreigners, but majority are proven to be diligent and law abiding people.

Eddy Lim.You are right in a small way. Those small percentage of bad foregners is enough to send you to your coffin & grave.

Chia Leckmeng not that bad lah, before they send me to coffin and grave, authority already sent them home lah, eg NUS law professor in sex scandal with students got his PR revoked and sent home after 6mth jail.

High cost of living and work stress will eventually destroy Singapore. Eventually there are no naturalized Singaporeans, only imported foreigners who treat this place as a company to make money. Out government has failed.

High cost of living and high standards for choosing partners are the factors.

There is already a huge population in Singapore. There are crowds everywhere. Population growth should be prevented and greenery should be protected.

Now you see ,government bring so many FT to become citizens yet still low birth rate ,those new citizens either migrate to other countries or they just want the benefits that singapore governemt give them .

Foreign Talents can fill the shortfall. It's very common to have Singaporeans who have never served National Service ansd speak with a foreign accent
