The importance of addressing the issue of widening inequality cannot be emphasised enough, he said, because deep within the city's social compact is a belief that as a community, regardless of race, language or religion, Singaporeans will always improve their lives together.

This is the whole crux of social inequality that need to be addressed adequately ---- the whole community should progress together.

Trump phenomenon, Brexit, rise in populism, Malaysia Brexit ---- experience good Economic growth - but the wealth is not shared as the social inequality are very stark - where the rich got richer and many middle income and lower income group got left behind.

Singapore must address this head-on to ensure that Economic progress, social divide and income inequality will not become an issue to Singapore - where the whole Community progress together.
