The root cause is SMRT forcing its drivers to reach the next bus stop at a certain time, and uou often see drivers battling on the roads

So does Lynn Lee think the bus drove over the kid or the kid ran out onto the road ?

What is on the drivers mind is important. Is it safety or speed.

I say without revoke that arrv time as kpi is not good. while govn may be encouraging public tpt, and massive IT investments on bus arrival time. The trafffic on the road can only be predicted w avg speed. If Smrt manage the crew by having arrv time as Kpi, more accident will happen.

Lynn Lee - Yes everyone must be safety conscious and look out for the safety of others.

But the same thing go for mother or kid - who also need to do things safely - because if someone do rash thing - it is not possible for others to react on time - especially on the road.

Especially for kid crossing the road, the mother must rein in on the kid and not let him play with the PMD when crossing the road - because the kid may lose control on the PMD.

Eg. i have seen people playing with smartphone when crossing the road without keeping lookout for oncoming car.

I have also seen kids crossing road with PMD without looking out for cars.

I even see kids bouncing ball when crossing the road - and what happen if he lose control of the ball and try to pick up the ball with oncoming car?

Thus safety consciousness is everybody's responsibilities - and everyone must play a part by doing the right thing --- not simply blame it on others.

Lynn Lee shouldn't you be more cautious on the road as a vulnerable pedestrian? because if anything happens, you will suffer more loss than the driver. Protect yourself first before you start pointing finger.

6 yrs old kid is tiny and moreover big bus got a lot of blind spot. Not sure what speed the bus is travelling but it could happen at any speed if the kid is not supervised.
