Out dated policy still required male citizen to serve 2 years NS and potentially at the expense of their growth and put them at disadvantage. NS should be reduced to just 6 months. Till today there is no reasonable explanation why it MUST be 2 years.

It doesn't make sense to do just 6 months army training.
6 months can only do basic training and commander or specialised training.
Thereafter, not attached to units to do unit exercise like battalion, brigade and division training?
Then how to fight a war - if called upon?
Our training must be operationalised - not for show.
If we don't have the will to defend our Country, our home, our family - it is as good as surrendering our Sovereignty, our Security.
People can just cut our water as they like, terrorists can just terrorise us like in Malawi.

We can go soft, we can be complacent - but our adversaries will watch and wait until we go soft enough - then they will exploit our soft spot and weakness - and they will give us a hard time.
By that time, it will be too late for us to regret.

Ricky Lim wow spoken like a true proponent of ns. But really lah, what SG is doing is all for show, we alr got technology. Therefore we should leverage on it. Quality better than quantity. Save time too. I highly doubt that some 1 year more of redundant training is gonna help. Train some dumb formation fight in SG jungle ah, if there’s really an attack I doubt we can even apply(sorry I’m no veteran, but still SG too small alr). Tbh I also serve army before, do so much useless exercise say nice is protect country. In reality it’s for our darned regulars to show something for their promotion. I, for one, don’t really give a damn about ns. Pretty sure many others share the same sentiments. Just my 2 cents.

How we will be deployed in time of crisis - is the commander level, we need to be competent in operating our military assets, and fight in the war.
If we don't train adequately, we will be shot like rats.
If we train ourselves well, no one will want to touch us.
If you say 6 months can be trained in all sort of combined arms ---- then it is naive to believe so.
