During WW2 when Singapore came under attack from the ancient Japanese Imperial Army, our British defenders that overwhelm in numbers have no appetite to fight.

Only Singaporeans Chinese, Malays, Indians wanted to fight the invaders to protect our Country and our homes. But all are not trained and has no guns to do so.

Only in the last minutes, the British dish out a few guns to the locals to fight, while others literally have to fight with knives, sticks and stones.

When the invaders come in, our underarm locals are being shot like rats even though we fought bravely.

Now Singaporeans are professionally trained with firearms and sophisticated weaponry to defend our Country.
Are we taking our National Service seriously to defend our Country, our homeland, our loved ones, our assets and our wealth?

During WW2, we are unarmed and being shot like rats by invaders.

Now we are well-trained and well-armed --- do we want to protect our homeland with grit and determination - to shoot any invaders like rats if we are invaded --- or we throw our arms away and let invaders shoot us like rats?

Agreed with the reasons and justification given that Davis should not be given deferment for National Service.

Why PAP want conscription of male citizens? Why not have paid regular armed forces instead? Loyalty to Sgp shouldn't be in terms of National Service served or not as in other developed countries. Not every male individual wants to be in the military. I hope the Govt can be more open-minded about this issue.

How much are you willing to pay tax to support 250,000 army strength?
Minimally, it will require $17 billion a year - just to pay the salary of the regular army.

And if 250,000 Singaporeans are recruited to serve the army --- do you have any more man to work to fuel the Economy of Singapore?

And if not enough Singaporeans work in the Economy, how to earn $17 billion a year to pay the salary of the army regulars?

And then how do Singapore Economy grow when not enough people are working?

You missed the critical point. It's a national Interest for security. Every soldier counts dead or alive for Spore is non negotiable with exception. The NS Act is of British Origin to fight Chin Peng. Chin Peng is gone and China was a friend now. So NS is about China now.

NS is every citizen duty. Those who is not happy can leave this country & cut their pink IC, we dun need individual taking advantage of Singaporeans. Punishment a must if caught doing so.

What is this, Mr Davis having so many passport? A person with split nationality can b trusted?? Went on to signed when defer not aproved??? Son career come b4 Singaporeans interest???? When proven a useless to EPL then will return take advantage on SG????

Aurthority need to punish evader on purpose and those challenge Singapore national interest by creating crack in SG

Singapore needs every male citizen to serve NS is the same as you needing to work in your life to feed your mouth. One word: Survival

The reason for every male to have NS is to equip every one of them with war n defense skills. Not as a long term job, but when war comes, those that went through NS has skills for war, be it land, air, sea, or CD. Your comment is uncalled for. We're lucky you are not one of the core personal building sg. Thank God.

用李 Does Mr Davis (father) have many passports? I think it was reported a while back that he is a PR and his son is made to do NS on the basis of being a second generation PR.

A PR enjoy a lots of benefit also equal to Roman Singapore's. The different is only try by current GOV to widen passed few year only when citizen voices is heard.

So the son must full fill the duty 1st or not representing SG. I strongly standby by verdict made.

The real fault all should point finger on SG football association. What the hell are they being doing all these years!!!

SG need each everyone of us to defend it independent using our life!

用李 A PR is still not a citizen, benifits or otherwise. Therefore your original statement of Mr Davis cannot be trusted because he have so many passport is not valid.

On your arguement that even a non citizen has the duty to defend Singapore, say, if the PR is a Malaysian and one day Singapore went to war with Malaysia, will you trust that Malaysian to defend Singapore in this war? Maybe you will also want tourists who are in Singapore when the war start to fight too, considering that they too had enjoyed the benifits of Singapore.
