Singapore should take this old hat into International Court for breaching the Water Agreement.

A person who fail to honour sign agreement - has no moral compass - and a poor role model for his people.

“The state government must make their voices heard. The rich are depending on the poor? This is not only illogical but also morally wrong. We must put stress on this issue,” he said.

This is the actual computation of water prices :-

Ricky Lim

The below is actual cost from official source :-
(1) Cost of rain water to Malaysia = RM 0 sen
(2) Malaysia charges Singapore for rain water = RM 3 sen
(3) Singapore cost of treating water = RM$2.40 sen (per 1000 gallons).
(4) Singapore charge Malaysia only = RM$0.50 sen (per 1000 gallons).
(5) Malaysia sells the water to Malaysia consumers = RM$3.60 sen (per 1000 gallons).
(6) Singapore directly subsidises to Malaysia = RM$1.90 sen (per 1000 gallons).

Malaysia does nothing and make = RM$3.10 sen (per 1000 gallons).

“Johor has a relatively larger land size than Singapore, and of course, cheaper. So, if investors are looking for a larger land size, this will definitely give an advantage to Johor compared to Singapore.
“The cost of living in Johor is also much lower than Singapore and this can attract investors as the investment cost will not be as high as in Singapore,” he said.
--
The problem is, investors will shun Malaysia because under this old hat --- he will never honour any signed contract or agreement - and will cause investors to lose big sum of money.

This old hat try to cancel all investment by China or breach the signed agreement by forcing price down even after signing the contract.

There are so many of such flip flop policy - that burned many investors.

Thus this old hat wishful thinking of investors coming to Malaysia to invest --- will remain a wishful thinking.

Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has thanked the Singapore Government for helping the Malaysian state during droughts.

Calling Singapore "a neighbour and a friend", Tunku Ismail said in a tweet on his official JohorSouthernTigers account on Thursday: "Thank you to the Singaporean Government for helping Johor during the drought seasons & when we had our water crisis. We have always helped each other. May the close ties & friendship forged hundreds of years ago last forever."
---

Johor has been consistently facing drought and its reservoirs and rivers have been drying up - affecting more than 800,000 residents in Johor every time.

This happen from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and now 2019. And the droughts will normally last for many months.

Singapore have been providing more treated water to Johor - more than the Water Agreement allows - in times of drought.

Johor government is grateful to Singapore for providing help in times of needs.

But not this ungrateful old hat.

Malaysia will not be able to process drinking water soon - and will rely heavily on Singapore to provide them Newater and Desalination water very soon.

In addition, Johor will be heavily dependent on trade, tourism and investment for Johor to thrive.

(1) Tourism - we contribute RM$50 billion a year
(2) Investment - we contribute RM$78 billion
(3) Trade - we contribute RM$127 billion in their export.

So wonder whether Johor government will risk such heavy stake - by speaking out against the international signed
water agreement with Singapore?

With a satayman always flipping explicitly agreed deals, who dares to invest there? Is the intention to breach signed contracts morally right in the first place?

A nation's development depends largely on excellent foresight, systems in place and above all, being morally upright and ethically robust.

With flipping indecisive attitude, one can never go far, no matter how large the land is, how you attempt to bully neighbouring countries by intruding into the sovereignty of others etc etc etc.

PLEASE HONOUR INTERNATIONAL LAW AND DON'T ACT LIKE A LAWLESS DESPERADO!

According to the Separation Agreement that governs the Water Agreements, the role of Mahathir's Federal Government, is ONLY to guarantee that the Johore State Government comply with the Water Agreements.

So why is Mahathir, not the Johore state government, that is negotiating about the price of Johore's water?

If the Johore State government have no complaints about the Water Agreements, why is he agitating Johore to stop complying with the agreements? Isnt that morally wrong?

And I would like to see Mahathir show numbers that says selling raw water to Singapore and buying back treated water at a large discount and at volumes often in excess of mgd specified in the agreements is not logical and not profitable to Johore.

I bet he wont do it, because his numbers will show the current arrangement is actually quite logical for Johore to maintain.

INVESTIGATE MORE HIGH PROFILE CORRUPT POLITICIANS IN MALAYSIA
Issued by The Malaysian Society for Transparency and Integrity (TI Malaysia)

The aggressive crackdown by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on graft in the public sector should be extended to corrupt high profile politicians. Investigation of politicians should be conducted in all aspects of anti-corruption legislation against those who live beyond their means and using anti-money laundering acts for money trail investigation. All this will deter others from being involved in corrupt practices.
As such, those who are involved in the corrupt practice should be brought to justice. On the political arena, the Malaysian Corruption Barometer (MCB) 2014 Survey indicated that political parties were the most corrupt bodies in Malaysia, followed by the Police and the Civil Servants. Politicians were perceived the most corrupt by replacing the police who were in the previous year’s top spot.
The findings from the survey points to the fact that the public do not see politicians as individuals with integrity or as transparent and accountable as they should be. The politicians have been selected by the rakyat to serve them and not to betray the rakyat. However, there are many rakyat who are struggling to live and yet the corrupt politicians are living beyond their means with lavish life-style and also owning luxurious homes in the Malaysia and overseas. The politicians who are also the policy maker who pass the law and legislation should not break the law. Politicians should lead by example to the people.
MACC statistics show that only two politicians were arrested out of 670 total arrests in 2015 and only two of them were arrested until October 2016. Most of these cases are likely not high profile cases as they were not published in the media.
In order to gain and increase the credibility and also to increase the public support and confidence, MACC must seriously eradicate corruption and strengthen its commitment to carrying out its investigation in a transparent and professional manner without fear or favour. They should not allow impunity when the investigations are being carried out. No one should be above the law.
Many are not aware that MACC does not have the power to initiate prosecution for offences of corrupt practices, they only have the power to investigate. It is not true that MACC has been selective in the prosecution especially those involving politicians. In Malaysia, only the Attorney-General (AG) can decide on the prosecution. Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution expressly states that the Attorney-General shall have power, exercisable at his discretion, to institute, conduct or discontinue any proceedings for an offence, other than proceedings before a syariah court, a native court, or a court martial. Thus, the AG must be fair in making purely non-selective decisions, his role should be apolitical and no one should be able to doubt decisions made in the interest of the Nation. Judges should play a vital part by imposing maximum penalty to the accused once found guilty in efforts to prevent repeat offenders and also to send out a strong message to others not to indulge in corruption.
The MACC need support cooperation and involvement of public, impeccably honest and respectable politicians regardless of their political differences to boost the commission in its fighting against corruption effectively in this country. Let us support MACC to fight corruption in the country.

Mahathir is right to say that Johore is as strategic as Singapore and more naturally endowed than Singapore.

But to imply that Singapore succeeded past Johore and Malaysia because it exploited and took advantage of its northern neighbour is simplistic.

Rather it has more to do with the corruption that have gone on for years, even before the Bossku Ah Jib era (hint: Mahdey's 1st time as PM, at least), and the failed policies that were supposed to uplift the malays but ended up benefiting the chosen few and chasing away its talent in droves.

i read somewhere or saw on cna tv that it is based on the selling price and contract length that led singapore to agree to develop the linggiu reservoir. what about the capital expenditure there? this first class infrastructure will be handed to johor gov in 2061 out of good neighborliness. what is the price of that? sg had already handed over a similar infrastructure when the first agreement expired.

there is no opportunity cost to johor. if sg doesnt buy, the water will just flow into the sea. seems to me, m is jsut envious. because you cant be better than others, his strategy is to stifle them, drag them down.

but more importantly, this water supply is about survival, it is an existential matter which tengku agreed to in order for singapore to exit msia.

sg did not point a gun at johor when the contract was inked. a contract is a contract. learn to be honorable.
