Before the old hat at the north claim that Singapore is part of Malaysia or its past is related to Malay King ---- we have to look beyond our history with Malaysia and Raffles --- that go beyond 700 years ago - that comprise of China heritage root, India heritage root and Eurasia heritage root - in addition to our Malay heritage root.

The relics dug out by archaeologists - have proven that our history 700 years ago - are make up of China origin, India origin, Eurasia origin and Malay origin - as evident in the relics that are dug out like chinese ceramics, chinese ancient coins etc ....

This is important because it has now proven that Singapore is not link only to Malaysia and UK but in the earlier years to China, India and Eurasia.

This means that if the old hat up north bully us - not only we have Bigger God-Father UK to back us up.

We have stronger muscle like China, India and Eurasia - to back us up.

This credit go to our PM Lee who strategise by exploiting Singapore Bicentennial celebration to pull in China, India and Eurasian presence 700 years ago beyond Malaysia and UK Raffles presence.

Now the old hat can only "LL".

In 1368, Zhu Yuanzhang defeated the Mongol Yuan and reunited China. By 1405, which was a mere 37 years after the founding of Ming, Zheng He’s great fleet sailed to the Western Ocean and arrived on our shores. Singapore was an important navigation point for the Ming voyages. Ma Huan’s Longyamen (龙牙门) most probably referred to Tanjong Belayar. That Ming China, within a few decades, was able to generate the economic surplus and assemble the talent and capabilities to set sail so many ships over enormous distances, showed how productive the Chinese economy is once the country is united and organized.

When the per capita income of China reaches half that of the US, China’s GDP will be twice that of the US. (This will be US$38 trillion)

When it reaches 2/3, China’s GDP will be roughly that of the US, EU and Japan combined.(This will be US$45 trillion)

It is thus important to preserve every single aspect of our Heritage Roots that define Singapore.

For eg. the Oxley House need to be preserve - as it defines the development and existence of modern Singapore - the birthplace of Governance that build modern Singapore.

What is the relevance of History before 1819? I think absolutely no relevance to our present and our future. Move on.

Imagine 200 years later, your descendants will say what is the significance of 1959, 1963 and 1965? Not relevant! This is 2219! Move on!

A people who don't know their history will cease to be a people I can tell you that. Just look at Taiwan glorifying their former Japanese masters. Even if it attained independence, they will fail in establishing a Taiwan identity.

Really... In SG, we have no power to say much in which building stays and which one goes.. My childhood place. Outram Park HDB flats opposite SGH got demolished. And it's now just a empty land. What a waste!!!

Who founded Singapore ?
We learned from English histroy books,...Sir Standford Raffles founded Singapore in 1819.

Is this a historical fact? NO.

According to the Chinese, (who came to Singapore as sea faring merchants) who brough silk, ivory chop sticks and fine porcelain to bater trade for spices..along the 'Flavor Road'... in communities....Singapore existed long before 1819...
As early as the 780, a thousand years before Raffles, Buddhist monk Jian Zhen, geographer Jia Dan stopped over in Singapore (known by a Chinese name ) and traded with locals living in thriving communities at the Southern tip of Penensula Malaya.

I am sure...the Indians who came from Southern India...came to Singapore long before Raffles, who spread Hindu teaching in the Hindu kingdom in these islands ....had a different story to tell about Singapore.

The first people who came to this island...must be the orang Laut (the fishermen). Chinese merchants recorded trading with them in silver pieces...for pearls and for fresh sea food.
The Orang Luat too must have their own version of the history of Singapore.

Now..archaeological dig in recent times...confirm that Singapore was a thriving trading community long before Raffles.

The British claim that Raffles founded Singapore in 1819 is factually WRONG.
We must not confuse our children with the British falsehood.

Present day Singapore was born in 1965. ... This island was founded by nameless people...long, long ago.

Dear Josephine Teo, MOM, -There are many of us from the Merdeka Generation who had loose jobs to foreigners not because. we are not qualified but because of the MOM policy of issuing work permits too easily to foreign talent. Our contribution to build up the Nation over the years , in return we had been shortchanged and our appeals falling on deaf ears and blind eyes year after year. Is that the true loving care been shown to the Merdeka Generation? We are not asking for handout from Government, but allow us to walk with our heads up and holding a proper job that we are trained in for so many years,$$ to fill our stomach and pay the $$$ bills ON TIME.

Well, my family lived without much electricity and sanitation when the British left. Compare then and now.

Say what you want about the PAP but at least delivered what the British couldn't or wouldn't.

Research shld start from which history book or physical evidence narrates about the man and woman which gave birth to human race and which place as we all have common interlinked DNA unless you believe in Charles Darwin that humans evolved from water microbes then amphibians then monkeys to homo sapiens or peking man or neanderthal etc.

Alphabet starts from A and number starts from 0 or 1 ? How can one understand a book or life if he / she does not start from 1st chapter or calculate without the basics.

Merry and Happy Chinese New Year.

There were actually more interesting stories occurred which history never mentioned. Story about Hang Nadim, a smart young boy who gave the idea to the Sultan on how to thwart the swordfish attacks by using banana tree stems but was victimised, Si Tanggang the poor kampung lad who became a foreign prince who disowned his mother etc were some of the past incidents which have never been highlighted.
