sg reporters do sg no favors by following msia's narrative and harped on the 3 sen and 50sen. more importantly is to state the cost of treatment, how much sg loses in selling treated water to johor, and how often sg has sold above the max contracted amount. that will provide a much better perspective to people, even to us across the straits.

johor is happy with the contract because our (yes, i am msian) treatment plants are often polluted. m wants to stifle your growth, if not stabbed you right in your heart. sg success is a sore anti testimony to the dastard failure of malay muslim chauvinistic leadership here.

msians look at sg who has no natural resources, and then, look at themselves, with abundant resources, even oil .. scratches our heads .. hmm, how come we are wayyyy poorer and backward to singapore?

The below is actual cost from official source :-
(1) Cost of rain water to Malaysia = RM 0 sen
(2) Malaysia charges Singapore for rain water = RM 3 sen
(3) Singapore cost of treating water = RM$2.40 sen (per 1000 gallons).
(4) Singapore charge Malaysia only = RM$0.50 sen (per 1000 gallons).
(5) Malaysia sells the water to Malaysia consumers = RM$3.60 sen (per 1000 gallons).
(6) Singapore directly subsidises to Malaysia = RM$1.90 sen (per 1000 gallons).

Malaysia does nothing and make = RM$3.10 sen (per 1000 gallons).

Ricky Lim Very clear breakdown on the various costs here. If negotiations on raw water price is needed, it should also included negotiations on all the other costs except the sale of treated water to Malysians by the Malaysian government.

The problem here is Malaysian people do not know how to calculate the cost that they paid their Govt for water. So M keep on telling them we sell 3 sen but buy 50 sen. so Malaysia lost. He is palying stock with them.

I don't think we will relent on this water dispute.

We are clearly above board :-
(1) whether in the contract vis-a-vis International Law or in
(2) cost calculation

This old hat is trying to make alot of things difficult for us.

But unlike previously where we have to depend on them for water, food and other things --- they have very little leverages against us now.

We can stand firm in many ground - and will not let this old hat take advantage of us.

Most important we are back by strong military and strong Economy.

And 3 important factors :-
(1) We have time - the old hat is running out of time. We take 29 years to win Pedra Branca. We can have another 29 years. Can this old hat wait for another 29 years?

(2) Mahathir said that Singapore “may be small”, but it was more powerful than Malaysia. He said that he did not see war as “a means to settle conflicts”.

He said that he’d rather sit down to negotiate, even though there may be no result, than go to war.

We can shoot down any bombs, missiles, arty or mortar rounds (where this is the most credible threat - that this old hat can throw at us - with our C-RAM (Counter rockets, arty and mortar bombs) - very few armed forces in the World can do that - and we are one of them.

And in return - our retaliation firepower will decimate all their military threats within days or weeks - with overwhelming firepower (the 2nd highest firepower density in the World - according to Global Militarisation Index).

Our 1 powerful radar can track thousands of target real time and can differentiate RAM from commercial flights. And we have many different powerful radars scanning our sky 24 hours, 365 days - & all of the old hat arsenal don't have so much military assets to saturate our radar and firepower.
The 1st and initial engagement will have flatten the old hat.

(3) Economically :-
- We are Malaysia largest tourism contributor - S$16.6 billion a year or RM$50 billion.
- We are Malaysia 3rd largest investor - US$26 billion in total or RM$109 billion.
- We are Malaysia largest trading partner - Malaysia export US$31.6 billion or RM$132.72 billion to us.

And Malaysia are selling down the assets from its meagre Sovereign Fund - to fund its yearly fiscal deficit - withering down its financial reserve.

If we play our cards right --- this old hat will fall very quickly.

At the same time, a strong Singapore Armed Forces lends weight to the country’s diplomatic efforts and ensures negotiations are taken seriously, he added, noting that should diplomacy fail, Singapore must stand ready to defend itself and safeguard its interests.
--

This means that we will not rule anything out from the table.

Should diplomacy fails, we will not hesitate to use military forces to safeguard our Sovereignty and National Interests.

The old hat better wake up !

There are 2 water agreements we have with Malaysia. When the 1st agreement was about to expire and due for renewal, think Dr M proposed to our late 1st PM LKY to increase the price of untreated water from 3 sen($0.01cts)to 40 or 60($0.13 to $0.20)sen per gallon. However, our side stubbornly refused and lost the chance to “foster goodwill” between 2 close neighbors. Dr M then upped the price to “market rate” at $6.00 per gallon! The rest like the saying is HISTORY! Think Dr M didn’t forget the snubbing by LKY!

You sounds more like Malaysian than Singaporean.

Don't you know that this old hat will never be satisfy - with whatever price we give him?
He practically hate us to the core - and is bent on making things difficult for us in every aspect - whether water, food, airspace, port limit etc.

He will not rest until we are beaten or economically damaged.

You are in fact talking about an evil person - who is bent on sabotaging us.

"Mutual government guarantees of water agreements
14. The Government of Singapore shall guarantee that the Public Utilities Board of
Singapore shall on and after Singapore Day abide by the terms and conditions of the
Water Agreements dated 1st September, 1961, and 29th September, 1962, entered into
between the City Council of Singapore and the Government of the State of Johore.
The Government of Malaysia shall guarantee that the Government of the State of
Johore will on and after Singapore Day also abide by the terms and conditions of the said
two Water Agreements." (Annex B, Separation Agreement btw Msia & Spore)

I think Mahathir should leave this to law ministers and lawyers to work it out...

Mohd Hafiz Hoshni, S'pore have the technology to treat "shit water" into drinkable water and also supply the treated water back to to M'sia at a subsidised price as a goodwill gesture. So are you saying M'sians also drink "shit water" from S'pore ? You all are just lots of ungrateful and unlawful people. When Johor's river is polluted, S'pore even provide additonal treated wated to Johoreans. Is this the Msian's way of paying back kindness to us ? If so, then you guys are simply not human but "wild animals" ?

You can dream on that Singapore cannot live without Malaysia.

We have sufficient water to feed all our water needs.
We have more than 129 Countries to supply us with food including eggs.

Even if Malaysia stop supplying us eggs - we can buy from many sources --- you think we will go hungry?

If we do an Economic actions on Malaysia - we can damage you by RM$250 billion in one go.

You only know how to talk nonsense without facts - tipu by your old hat.

But you don't know how you hurt yourself tremendously - if we whack you economically.

You have debt up to RM$1 trillion - if we whack you, you may go under. Your old hat is already start selling many of your Sovereign Fund assets to finance your debt. You still don't know how you will suffer.

He will only die the moment he win a price increase in water so that he can have coffee with LKY. SG will also change the price when selling water and extra water back to them. The new price should be the actual cost of producing clean water. I remember M say producing clean water is very very cheap, but why his country not producing it and sell to SG. Why talk and talk and want to produce car.

The Prime Minister of MY is far from telling the truth. Three sen is not the true cost. SG spent more than $1 billion on various water treatment infrastructure, including developing a dam to create the Linggiu Reservoir, and the costs is still going up.

He is also not telling the complete truth. SG sold water to Johor at a substantial discount, and the amount of water sold to Johor is way above the agreed amount.

If he employs qualified Ministers with proper tertiary education, he will know the truth and do a better job in running MY.
