Referring to Malaysia’s recent announcements on restricting certain seafood exports, as well as considering limiting or stopping egg exports to Singapore, Mr Masagos said this will not be the last time Singapore faces possible disruption to its food imports.
“We must therefore continue to diversify our food import sources and not be over-reliant on any single source," the minster said.

“Amidst the uncertainties facing the agri-food landscape, our goal is to seize the opportunity for Singapore to turn our food challenges into strategic advantages … to secure our food supply, transform our agri-food industry, develop our local enterprises, and provide good jobs to Singaporeans. Just like how we have turned our vulnerability in water into opportunity," Mr Masagos said.

It is very clear that the old hat up north is always up to no good - to ensure :-
(1) we die of thirst
(2) die of starvation
(3) block our ships
(4) block our planes

--- all the old evil way he repeat from his past cook book.

Thus, Singapore must always be ready like our "water diversification strategy" -- to achieve :-
(1) self sufficiency in water
(2) to boost our own production of food - using hi-tech and whatever means within our limited spaces (and create a new industry - food industry, boost food business, export our food and create new jobs ---- in which this strategy has correctly done).
(3) ensure our ships and ports are not block
(4) ensure we can rely on our own airspace - to boost air transport.

Food is a necessity for human survival - and will always have demand - whether local or overseas.

The Government rightly pointed out that global warming will impact food supply chain.

Thus Singapore develop our food industry using high tech, R&D, sustainable production and supply --- will be vital for Singapore future food safety and food security.

In addition, Singapore can start a new high-tech food industry, create more food business - for local consumption and export and create jobs === as well as contribute to our GDP.

Eg.
(1) We can build a 30 storey building - to rear fish - using hi-tech vertical farming technique - "fish farm" --- in an "agrotech industrial park" --- set aside for our "food rearing/growing, food manufacturing, food harvesting".

(2) We can build another 30 storey building - to rear chicken and harvest eggs.

(3) We can build another 30 storey building - to grow vegetables.

(4) We can build another 30 storey building - to rear other poultry for food.

etc etc

In this way, we can use our limited spaces by going up vertically - but produced more within a limited space.

Please also consider the other aspects that affect food safety: operational aspects (many public food sellers at food courts / hawker centres / airport terminals not covering condiments at public serving area).

Also, please look into whether cookwares are using safe materials (i.e. claypots with unknown declaration of materials used, cutleries, containers, pots, pans etc). I am surprised that some sales people make assumptions about the actual materials being used, when there was vague indication of the materials on the instruction labels of the products.

I have also witnessed well-established international food vicinities who have unclean cutleries and uncovered condiments (i.e. dried vegetables on the spoons, chilli, dark sauce stains etc).

I alerted the food seller and they simply told me "not my problem. The cleaning agent is solely responsible for the cleaning. We pay them 3k monthly...."

Clean food is equally unsafe if it is contained or cooked or managed in potentially toxic cookwares, consumed with unclean cutleries or mismanaged due to ignorance, sometimes termed "can't-be-bothered attitude".
