Nevertheless, the Government has continued to ensure low unemployment rates of below 3 per cent despite global uncertainties, alongside “quite credible wage growth” over the years.
“A very important element of tackling the cost of living is that (we) keep our workers employed,” said Mr Heng. “We must continue with this.”

I particularly like and support the idea of - tackling cost of living by keeping Singaporeans employed alongside “quite credible wage growth” over the years - and the Government must continue with this.

The Government need to ensure that vulnerable group such as those in the 40s, 50s, and 60s who lose their jobs - need additional help and boost by the Government such as WSG, e2i and NTUC to help the retrenched Singaporeans to get jobs.

If this is done, than Singaporeans will be assured that not only cost of living can be addressed - the sense of job security can also be assured for Singaporeans.

The surplus budget of S$15 billion - S$3.5 = S$11.5 billion should be given to Sovereign Fund such as GIC, Temasek and MAS for re-investment and earn healthy NIRC (Net Investment Return Contribution) to fund Government expenditure ---- so that the tax for subsequent years can be reduced.

This will benefit all Singaporeans as Singaporeans will need to pay less taxes such as GST, income tax, corporate tax etc - and Singaporeans disposable income will increase and able to cope with the cost of living.
