I am very sorry to be cynical.
Why the need to buy and operate these million-euro submarines when we cannot even get an unauthorised big fat heavy Malaysian surveying ship out of our legal waters when we can clearly see it without any binoculors?
LikeReply3m
We have not rule out the use of military forces.

If all diplomacy in the negotiation fails, we reserve the right to use military force.

Our submarines especially this new one has AIP and more advanced radar.
It is also armed with heavy torpedoes and light torpedos.

Just 1 submarine can destroyed all the floating intruded vessels out there.

I hope the old hat up there - don't underestimate our resolves.

Our military are all ready.

perphaps it's equipped with a secret weapon to covertly divert commercial vessels to ram into it? ^_^

Mohd Johnardy Goh - reaction like what?

If we don't defend our Sovereignty and National Interest - you expect the old hat up north will stop?

If all diplomacy and peaceful means fail - the only way to drive the intruders out - is to sink their intruded vessels --- the right accorded by UNCLOS.
(And we will have to prepare for escalation - if the needs arise).

Every possible reaction - is taken into account and there will be counter measures in place.

Agree with joe joe bing. Someome is shitting in our house and we wait. Whats the use so much hardware where we dont use them. I think the newer leaders are soft.
LikeReply1m
Alvin Leong - When there is escalation - we will have to respond with overwhelming forces.
These include sinking all their naval reinforcement - that include their missile vessels, frigates and submarines.

And all their surface vessels and their submarines (not AIP) --- are fearful of our submarines who can attack them in stealth without detection.
This mean firefight will never happen - because their assets will be sink without even knowing why.

Our Archer class submarine perform very well in International wargame exercise (made up of Armed Forces of Superpowers and Big Nations) that have a sophisticated arrays of aircraft, destroyers, helicopters etc that have sophisticated sonar to detect submarines.

But our Archer class submarine perform its mission undetected and do the final kill.

With all their vessels - either destroyed or prevented from entering our Territorial Water -- our airforces and air defences will not need to be activated to sink their vessels --- and can standby to guard our skies or their RAM (rocket, arty, mortar) forces and their radar units.

If they act, we will respond with overwhelming forces - and their assets will be flatten and extinguish within days or weeks.

Performance of submarines in WW2.

Submarines comprise only 2% of a navy assets - but destroyed 30% of enemy naval assets in WW2
--- and the enemy did not even fire 1 shot.

Ricky Lim The reason that ship hasn't been sunk is because it's not worth starting a war and ending hundreds to thousands of lives over a civilian ship that poses no threat. Thes submarines are meant to counteract advanced warships, not unarmed civilians.

Wrt our immediate neighbours, SAF assets are meant to deter and will not be used unless we are attacked first.
Wrt China, it's possible SAF may use its assets in concert with US and the other nations in the region if China takes military action in the S. China Sea and block all sea lanes passing through there.

These subs r not for use against mys or indon country coz there is too little reaction time. All land based military arsenal including the airforce would b destroyed by any surprise attack by mys or indon country. Rockets at Mach 10. U calculate how long to reach in 1 km guided Sg targets of water reservoirs n plants, aircraft, barracks, batteries, guns etc below radar coverage of 500 feet ? Idiots to say how great n advance sg military is. The geography screwed Sg up. Like Seoul n Pyongyang, both will b destroyed due to distance between them. So war is definitely out, only useless rhetoric.
If u have a nuclear weapon or bomb in your house n your neighbor terrace house has a petrol hydrant. Both of U r equal in destructive power.the subs r n idiotic buy n so r the F16 or F35.
These subs could have been exchanged for 50 ordinary subs to allow Sg to traverse their 6 to 12 nautical miles territory to detect enemies from staying in international waters to fire missiles into Sg above water or submerged in water. If these intruders decide to do so, they also have radar to have torpedoes ready for your subs.

Sharil Bin Saharudin - The intruded vessels have already intruded into our Territorial Water that infringed our Sovereignty.

Now we let the diplomacy talks.
If fails, we will take action against the intruded vessels according to UNCLOS.

(While we will prepare for escalation - if the needs arise)

If they escalate actions such as :-
1. whether they use RAM - rockets, arty, mortar - when our C-RAM intercept all their RAM - it will fall into their territory and flatten their buildings. (Johor will be like Middle East - with no standing buildings - because thousands missiles, shell rounds will explode and fall on them). The more they fire, the faster they destroy whole of Johor. Their firepower are unable to saturate our powerful radars and firepower.
This is the most credible threat - with our most credible response.

2. all their airbases up north and in east M (Butterworth, Gong Kedak, Kuantan, Labuan - their airbases housing FA18C/D, SU-30MKMs, MiG-29s, BAE Hawks) - plus other airbases - helicopters, transport planes etc ----- will be within the radius of our advanced fighters
, interceptors and fighter bombers.

3. their naval assets whether their missile vessels, frigates, submarines (about 20) - we have 7 submarines (3 more in the pipelines) (all armed with heavy and light torpedoes - more than enough to destroy their 20 vessel threat).

4. all their radar units & short range air-defences. (our advanced fighters can destroy them in long range) as our AWACs and satellites can track them including all their aircrafts, RAM units, armor, air defences and their radar units.

5. all their armor column - if they even manage to come over

---- we have prepared against all these threats & will do counter-strike.

South China Sea - we have no claims. Why should we be involved?
We are however actively involved in de-escalating the tension through regional forums.

甩李吉摆 -

You are either :-
(1) a coward and a traitor - who refuse to defend the Country's Sovereignty and National Interest.

(2) you rather succumb to your adversaries - who trample on your land, your water space, your water, your sovereignty, your airspace, your food etc - and you rather live like dog to be rape, machine-gun, chop heads - and live without dignity.

(3) you may not even is a Singaporean - probably a Malaysian in disguise.

We are strong in our resolve - and will not let any one or any Country bully us and trample on us or our Sovereignty.

There must be consequences if people threaten our survival and self-defense and self-survival is our Divine necessity and Divine given - karma or not.

And after we defeat our Tormentor - we will chase you out and throw you to the Tormentor.

You can kowtow to them and lick their feet - as part of your karma.

War is not an option here . Just because madey send a " sampan " on the
" disputed " sea border and playing the stupid game " you slap me first lor ", Singapore must fall to madey trap and start a war.
It's not about no balls n the government spending millions on military equipments. It's about using the brain and be the smarter one. Singapore have always used the proper channel to settle any dispute with the big bully madei.
We must always hope that the fire power of our military will never be needed to be used. Having said that, not strengthening our defend forces will only makes Singapore an easy targets for buliies. We must continue to makes Singapore ways better than malaysia like we're now.
Malaysia now is having a very serious internal infighting amongst the PH political parties. So more to come from madei to distract their peoples from it. Be ready for more provocations from the liser madey.

Let's be real, we're all "complicated human beings" and most of us are not saints. We cannot be so naive to think that all human beings are already so civilised that we're all saints and no more "bad & ugly" but left only the good ones. Why almost all the countries in this 21st century still need to have defence ministry and spend so much annually on defence to deter unnecessary threats is because no one can guarantee peace ?
Not just S'pore, there are many developed countries keep spending money to upgrade their defence to keep peace and harmony. but also to avoid war. As true blue S'porean, we must be be matured enough to be aware that we're in a vulnerable position and there is no natural resources here for us to be self sufficient hence keeping our land, air and sea safe is utmost important. Even when we want peace or during peace time, somehow somewhere there will be someone trying to disrupt our peace and harmony either out of jealousy or past grievances.
Like the vintagee Old PM from the north, he'll continue to challenge us unnecessarily & unreasonably hence we'll be finished once we're deemed weak. Spending on the right thing for safety & security is definitely worthwhile than chanelling "over or under the table money" to those "political opportunists" without accountablity nor much responsiblities when people just blindly support them.
