The U.S. sorghum industry called for an end to the trade dispute and expressed concern about the impact on established trade relationships that have taken years to build.
"This tit for tat has to stop, and talks to find reasonable and lasting solutions must begin, for the good of U.S. agriculture and the customers we have spent decades working to win as loyal buyers," said Tom Sleight, president and CEO of the U.S. Grains Council.

Look at the collateral damages both US and China business and consumers suffer under Trump trade war.

It like burning hard cold cash - multi million dollars, multi-billion dollars by both sides.

It also cause collateral damages to many other Countries in the global supply chain.

Trump got to be very mindful of what happen in 1930s Deep Depression - where US levy tariff, trigger World Wide trade war - that eventually lead to World War 2.

Now look at the climate created by Trump - very serious trade and business damages -- and the mounting tension between the US and China.

Is it worth the strategic rivalry hiding under the cloak of so called "America First fair trade"?

Trump started it.... imposing heavy penalty on the import on 50 billions dollar worth of China-made products ....in the name of anti-dumping.

China tried to get US to follow WTO rules in trade between the USA and China...not to impose tariff at the whim and fancy of Trump.....but failed.

Now China reluctantly impose anti-dumping deposits on U.S. imports of the grain,..including Sorghum ( a grain to make flour ...for Chinese noodle) Now China has to import more rice...from ASEAN countries.

The next in line...will be anti dumping levies... on soya bean...pork....beef..fruits ....from the USA .
To Trump it is no big deal...no sweat. He will win this war, whatever the cost.

USA has always say... America believe in the rule of law !!!
Why is China following the WTO international trade laws....and Trump does NOT believe in international laws.
Trump believe in his own law!

Well.. there is no one powerful enough to get Trump to follow trade laws...
He is above the laws...he is the US president, the most powerful man in the world. Now he has proved it.

Trump's anti-dumping weapon is very powerful... it kills China exports to the USA... it also kill grain farmer's business in the USA.
Like China, there is nothing the US farmers can do to stop Trump.

However, those countries and others in the region are small importers of sorghum. Vietnam has never imported U.S. sorghum and the Philippines imported just 19,000 tonnes in the 2016/17 season, according to USDA data.
China, by contrast, imported more than 5.2 million tonnes last season, nearly 10 times more than No. 2 importer Japan, the data showed.

US agricultural industry - may forever lose one of its biggest customer if Trump's trade war with China hardened ---- as no other Countries can absorb all the crops from US.

US agricultural sectors will be completely destroyed.

At the end of the day, the net importer wins and the net exporter will back off.

Dave Choy - Whether is this true or not will have to see how things unfold few months down the road.

Trump will be seeking mid-term Congressional election in November - a few months down the road.

The nasty trade war - will have causes many businesses failure, job losses on both sides.

Agrcultural sectors maybe totally or mainly wipe out - loss to farmers will be mammoth and irrecoverable - as China is the biggest consumers of US crops - and no other Countries can absorb its crops once China decide to halt its import.

Tech companies will both suffer collateral losses - and already profit and even losses are suffered by both US and China businesses. Some companies are even doing retrenchment.

It is all about which sides can hold out, drag it - and cause political damages, business damages, social damages --- so severe --- that drag a political figure down --- and this will stop the "mindless, foolish trade war".

So who eventually win in the trade war - is not about "figures" --- but a complex makeup of political, business, social damages --- and the ability to withstand them.
