While plastic bags have many uses, from carrying groceries to bagging up refuse.
With supermarkets holding off on imposing a plastic bag levy, and the government not planning to make them do so, the ball is in the consumer’s court.

Don't underestimate the charging of simple things like plastic bags.

This has tremendous widespread impact on the lower, middle group who rely on plastic bags to carry groceries, keep their household items -- and most important bag up refuse to throw their waste, dirt, wet food waste to be disposed off.

Government is not levying charges on plastic bags because it is used in almost every household for the above purposes.
It charges are levy, it will bring an uproar of equivalent weight like raising GST or worst - as it affect the pockets of every household --- as there are no substitute to replace the above.

People will say, they already pay a price on the groceries and levying charges on plastic bag - is double charges and also it further raise the cost of living to people and bring about unnecessary burden to the people.
