“Globalisation is good overall – but try telling that to people who have lost their jobs. We must help those who have been affected," he said.
"In a small country like Singapore where the richest and poorest are never separated by more than 15 minutes' drive, inequality can be seen by all."

Yes, this is the major grievances not only experience by some Singaporeans but also the World.
Why Trump got a field day - putting his weight around and punishing the World with his trade war - is because of the above reason.

NTUC and MOM must play a role in ensuring those who lose their jobs will not languish in the "unemployed" deep well - forgotten and buried.

But a "repository" to catch them, train them and place them into jobs whenever the opportunities arise - so that this will give an assurance for those who lose their jobs - will not lost hope.

Also helps shall be given along the way - for those who lost their jobs - to help them tie over the difficult period.

The announcement by Minister Chan Chun Sing - that NTUC will develop a NTUC Training Council to catch those who lose their jobs to get themselves train and place them in jobs --- is a good initiative.
But it must not be apply to NTUC Union members only.

It must extend its net wide to include all Singaporeans and PRs - with priorities given to Singaporeans - to include even non-NTUC Union members and keep track on the well beings of all Singaporeans --- using AI, Big Data/Metadata, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, IoT etc.

Only when this is done --- can tackling inequality be effective.
