There are 2 sides of the coin :-
(1) Is it idolising
(2) or is it remembering Mr LKY as source of inspiration - i.e. even challenges and threat look daunting - there are always ways to overcome them and emerged better. Mr LKY is a source of inspiration - as resourceful, tenacity, determination and perseverance to overcome all odds.
It is in this spirit, Mr LKY is worth remembering.
Remembering Mr LKY as a source of strength when time is down is a very different perspective as idolising.
