Lawyer Murali to contest as PAP’s candidate for Bukit Batok SMC by-election

I believe fielding the minority candidate in Bukit Batok by-election is to test a few hypothesis - that will serve as input for a larger strategy in futre General Election.
(1) Pitting a minority candidate and little known one against SDP Chee - is to test :-
(a) whether opposition other than WP can win an election
(b) whether a minority can beat a majority race in a one-to-one fight
(c) whether fielding a lesser known candidate back by an incumbent Party - can beat a better known opposition
(d) whether the National Policies so far proposed or implemented - can help a lesser known candidate beat a better known opposition candidate
(e) whether a minority but known as active grassroot member in Bukit Batok can beat a helicopter insert better known candidate can win a by-election.
(f) whether can win a by-election when the Government is already in power - with a lesser known candidate.
All the above hypothesis can be tested in just one by-election and the incumbent Government has nothing to lose as the Government is already in power.
But all the hypothesis that are tested - will a valuable wealth of information that can help to buid a more informed strategies in future General Election.
To sum up, can a National Policies that help Singaporeans - overwhelm the desire to have a "vocal oppostion" just to make noise in a Parliament.
