Glad that American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore share the views in the statement below - that providing jobs for Singaporeans First is a welcome move. Foreigners can supplement Singaporean workforce in areas where Singaporeans are unable to do or is not doing or there are too many vacancies, but not enough Singaporeans to fill the job.

"The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore welcomed the new rules.
"AmCham members anticipate that the new policy will help them reach a larger pool of qualified local applicants," James Andrade, the group's chairman, said in a statement.""
But hope the National Job Bank is effective in matching jobs for Singaporeans and the potential Employers.

As it stand now, there are many unemployed Singaporeans PMETs and Workers still not able to find jobs despite having the right experience and skillsets.

US employers add 209K jobs, rate rises to 6.2 pct.

Solid hiring stretches into 6th month as employers add 209,000 jobs; rate rises to 6.2 pct.

Associated PressBy Christopher s. Rugaber, AP Economics Writer | Associated Press – 16 minutes

The job of any Government in the World is to provide jobs for their Citizens.
    US is no otherwise.
If US is a high-cost based Developed Country - and is able to create good paying jobs for their Citizens, Singapore can also do likewise.

So in Singapore, when the Government are trying to create job opportunities for unemployed Singaporeans, we do not expect foreign article to threaten foreign investors withdrawal.

    My earlier post =

And the irony is that foreign article make it as though it is a sin for Singaporeans demanding jobs to be given to them in their own Country Singapore - where many foreigners are happily walking around gainfully employed -- while unemployed Singaporeans are walking around like beggar begging for jobs - and this happen right in their own Country.
