Xenophobia rears its ugly head in Singapore once more

I think Singaporeans also celebrate National Day in other Countries as well - in London, China etc.

As long as Singaporean First Policy is applied with appropriate control of foreigner numbers - so that Singaporeans are assured of jobs, housing, education, medical benefits, food etc - I think Singaporeans should not be overly jealous to be seen as xenophoia.

Moreover foreign investment, tourists, business, trade etc with foreigners benefit Singaporeans as well as foreigners.

As long as Singaporeans are being taken care of - we should also welcome foreigners = under the principle of "I win, You win" - not "I lose, You win" or "I win, You lose".

3 costs come into play when working on the mix of Singaporeans opportunities and Foreign mix to strengthen our Economy - namely Economic costs, Social costs and Political costs.

The right mix of Singaporeans opportunities such as job opportunities, no overcrowding, no imported inflation versus Foreigners mix strengthening our Economy and make our Society stronger must be worked out.

By having too many foreigners may in short-term boost our Economic figures but may do so at the expenses of Singaporeans which will translate to adverse Social costs such as inflation, overcrowding and crowding out of jobs for Singaporeans which in turn may translate into adverse Political cost.

By ensuring Singaporeans have good paying jobs, taken care in housing, education, healthcare, transport etc then supplementing foreigners to strengthen our Economy and Society will be an added bonus.

先自度,后度人 means we must be able to survive and do well, before we help others. If we cannot even survive, we will not be able to help others.

By getting the formula right then Economic, Social and Political will reach equilibrium and there will be more harmony and less tension between local and foreigners.

We probably can look at some Countries that welcome foreigners with open arms eg. Dubai where the mix is about 30% locals and 70% foreigners where locals welcome foreigners with open arm because the presence of foreigners boost their Economy considerably and contribute more wealth and job opportunities to the locals without taking away their jobs and whittle away their wealth.

Most important thing is that Singaporeans should not single out or be biased towards any particular group be it the Chinese PRCs, Indians, Filipinos,Indonesians etc - and get ourselves entangle with their ongoing regional territorial disputes.

We should treat everyone equally.

People whom are not affected by the influx of foreigners doesn't have any rights to stop those who ARE being affected, from protesting.

If you lose your job to foreigner, you should seek the help of Government agency to help you to look for a job.
If foreigner take away your house, you can go to HDB. etc etc.

Why go out to protest? Do the right thing.

Do the right thing to get the right help to solve your problem - rather than causing chaos and not solving your problem.
