What banks in Singapore really think about hiring more Singaporean bankers

By Simon Mortlock | eFinancialCareers  10 hours ago

It has been long overdue that Singaporean First Policy – in job application should be reserved for qualified Singaporeans first.

Singapore is the home and country for Singaporeans. If Singaporeans are not able to find jobs in Singapore but foreigners can easily get jobs in Singapore in practically every sectors of the Economy – what implication will that be?

(1)   Singaporeans will find no future in Singapore – their own home

(2)   Singaporeans will not married and have more offsprings – because there are no jobs for their parents – and in future no jobs for their kids and their grandchildren.

(3)   Soon Singaporeans will be the land of foreigners – because it is a self-fulfilling prophecy that Singaporeans are not welcome in the job market – with preference given to foreigners.

An attendee from another American bank added: “The rules are about forcing employers to make decisions – if it’s easier to hire a local, is it really even worth the pain of trying to move someone from overseas?”------ this will be the best MOM move to counteract HR and hiring managers bias hire in favor of foreigners rather than local.

Imagine a hiring manager thrust 12 resumes of foreigners and only 1 local resume to the HR where the hiring manager himself is a foreigner. What is the chances of local being hired, 1 out of 13 chances.

That is why nowadays many Singaporeans take years not to mention months to find a job at home. The worst are the mature PMETs where firms use all sorts of excuses to release them for cheaper labour. The mature PMETs encounter alot of difficulties to find jobs thereafter.

The worst thing is that, are foreigners better than locals, apparently not.
Foreginers are cheaper.
