Looking at the context of the whole interview, it is quite obvious that the General did express regret about the naming of 2 warships with the name of the 2 bombers and the urge to resume friendly relationship with the Armed Forces of the 2 countries.

But as a result of domestic pressure, retract the expression of regrets.

Though the naming of the warships is the Indonesia’s prerogative, we who have suffer from the terrorist act of bombing our building that have claim the lives of innocent civilians – we cannot condone such unfriendly act without expressing our displeasure.

Likewise if Indonesia face similar situation, do we thin Indonesia will stay silent?

Singapore and Indonesia have been friendly and have mutual interest in many areas such as Economic, Business, Political – where both are members of Asean with common interest and friendly relationship among the people.

It is quite unfortunate that the naming of warship – has ruffled the feathers of both side.
But the General’s interview has also express willingness to move forward positively though the retraction of the regrets due to domestic pressure is indeed regrettable.

And Indonesia being a responsible Country of UN that condemn terrorism such as indiscriminate killings of innocents, bombings of innocents as well as being the victims of their home bred terrorism and her tenacity of fighting their home grown terrorists that have bomb their own home such as Bali etc.

I am sure Indonesia will not brand her home bred terrorists that bomb innocent victims as Heros or name them on their warships.

Bearing in mind, Indonesians are jostling for closely contesting in Presidential election and is looking to instill Nationalism - which unfortunately has picked Singapore to divert attention.

Singaporeans should not be emotional and let their domestic affair whip up their frenzy and let them dominate our emotion.
