"cross an imaginary red line!"

Foreign intervention of domestic politics - is crossing a red line (not imaginary red line).

Even in US that champion free speeches ---- Muller is now investigating the possibility of foreign intervention in US election.

Even EU Countries are taking firm stand - against foreign powers from influencing their elections.

No Countries can tolerate "foreign intervention" into domestic politics.

ASEAN has a strong stand in "no interference" in member states politics.

Liew James - obviously you cannot differentiate what is "crossing an imaginary red line!" and what is "cross a real red line!"

Assume all these individuals have their way and organise a seminar with this foreign PM - to set the condition - for "Singapore to be part of Malaya" :-
(1) All Singaporeans must take Malay as the 1st language - and no more English and mother tongue - in Primary, Secondary, Poly, ITE and Uni.

(2) Singapore GDP must contribute half to Federal Gov in KL.

(3) Singapore Army, Navy and Airforce to disband - and KL will take over the planes, ship and armour vehicles - no guarantee it will be able to fly, sail or go on the road.

(4) No more supplying of water to Singapore from Johore - Singapore develop own water.

(5) Bumi Policy will take over Meritocracy for jobs and business.

(6) Singaporeans can only vote in Singapore state - and cannot vote for Malaysia Federal Gov.

(7) Airport and Seaport - can only land in KL and not Singapore.

(8) No more subsidy for HDB flat in Singapore.

(9) No representation of Singaporeans in KL Parliament - only can be State Government of Singapore.

etc policies that will be detrimental to Singapore.

--- now Singaporean critics who slam Singapore for going soft on these few individuals plus all those in this Board that support these few individuals.

Dr Thum also believes Singapore should be part of Malaya, said Mr Lee, and declared that it was his "fervent wish" that Singapore "will one day return to our rightful place alongside our brothers and sisters in Malaya", and pointed that Dr Thum had made several other posts to similar effect.
"The three individuals claim that they are patriots. It is not patriotic to invite any foreign leader to intervene in Singapore politics, especially the leader of a country who has declared his desire to increase the price of water to Singapore by more than ten times, and with whom we seek to maintain close and friendly relations," Mr Lee added in his statement.

Who is Dr Thum to decide that Singapore should be part of Malaya?

All these Singaporean people go to Malaysia on their Independence Day and tell foreign PM to interfere in Singapore Sovereignty and interests -- and you say is ok.

It is done at the time when this foreign PM want to increase our price 10 times - and you say is ok?

You must be one of these few people or comrades of these few people - who are trying to harm Singapore's interest.

Derek Ee - who gave them the right to represent Singapore's interest?
And who gave you the right to say what these people did - represent Singapore's Sovereignty and interests?

Are you saying these few individuals including you --- are given rights to represent the fate of all Singaporeans?

These few Singaporeans -- without authority to represent Singapore ---- by presenting the view that "Singapore is part of Malaya" to a foreign PM --- is infringing Singapore Constitution.

Is this not an act of "treason"?

Derek Ee - and you say this is "ok"?

Expressing personal view - is one's prerogative - but presenting it to a foreign PM is another thing all together - when these people have no authority to do so nor did they represent the interest of all Singaporeans.

On 31 August 2013, he wrote.

50 years ago today: Lee Kuan Yew, frustrated with the delay in the creation of Malaysia, unilaterally announced the independence of Singapore. In a rare show of unity, the international community rolled their eyes and ignored him. Happy 50th Illegal Independence Day, Singapore!

Watari Jin - Read the following fact :-

PJ Thum, Kirsten Han, Jolovan Wham and Sonny Liew met with Dr Mahathir on Thursday. Dr Thum invited Dr Mahathir to bring democracy to Singapore.

PJ Thum went further the next day. On August 31, Malaysia’s “national day”, he posted an unusual greeting, “Selamat Hari Merdeka to the people of the former Federation of Malaya”, and suggested that Singaporeans should also rejoice on that day since it was Singapore’s “unofficial independence day”.

Separately, in a comment on a TOC video post, Teo Soh Lung said that "Singapore is part of Malaya la".

There's the General Election, which has taken place every 5 years since 1965, and the PAP has prevailed each time. The majority of the people voted for the PAP, and one would have thought that's true democracy at work. There was no intimidation or threat made against any voter, and the voting process has been transparent, above board [no hanky-panky], and completely trusted by the people. Then, we all remember there's the minority. They could either accept the results, or they could go form a political party to contest the GE. Seems to me, Thum and "comrades" [excluding Sonny Liew, for whom I have a high regard for his literary works], for choice of a better description, are not prepared to do even the latter, as they know they are likely to be humiliated at the Polls. So, they take a different [but rather dubious] route to try and slap the faces of the contented majority. Thum, for instance, pokes fun about our nation's "illegal" independence.

They are frustrated that the PAP has been in power for the last 53 years, and now they try to exploit the Mahathir's return to power, upseating UMNO/BN, as what is needed also in Singapore. They give no respect to the majority, they have no credible agendas to better the current government's policies, agendas and action. They have no viable alternatives to offer, on anything. They are just aiming for one thing - topple the PAP from the government. Why? The answer is fairly obvious - they simply cannot digest the hard truth that the majority of the people understand that governing the nation, and her people, is not an easy task; and that no government can be immaculately good in the job, but the PAP, in government, has done wonders over the years, though there are presenly some sticky issues which require deep analysis, review, and probably changes for the better. The term 'democracy" really means nothing if there is no good governance. The PAP has been challenged over the years at the poll by several political parties but the PAP won a resounding victory each time to form the government, because it does offer good, though not perfect, governance.

Perhaps Thum and "comrades" ought to take their case to the Speakers' Corner. Alternatively, they may wish to consider meeting up with LHL to learn from the PM how the PAP continues to be loved, and respected, by the majority of the people. This meeting will be more fruitful than the one with Mahathir, for with "true enlightenment" comes understanding, instead of living in endless confusion and misery. .

What both Dr Thum and Dr Mahathir Mohamad did was to create "Chaos" within Singaporeans. Both have succeeded. Singaporeans SHOULD NOT fall into their trap. We should stay UNITED and FOCUS on building our nation to be a better place.

Democracy and freedom of speech will never be fully realised in the real world. They should come with national interest and personal responsibility. Otherwise, they are only a VERY SELFISH ideology which only benefit a small group of irresponsible individuals. Look at those nations that practice full democracy and freedom of speech, are they good enough to be a model for other nations to follow???

Actually the whole issue is how to replace PAP Government in power?? Using which path? From Dr Thum and Tan Wah Piow you can see very clearly they still continue from the 1987 conspiracy ideas to overthrow PAP, but is this still the right way? They claimed to admire Malaysian PM Tun Dr Mahathir's Harapan way to topple BN Barisan Nasional, but Tun's way was the same way as our Opposition in Parliament the The Workers' Party to be the co-driver in Government then later years to debate issues in GE trying to topple the ruling front one day! To face the ruling front in power in the same system and not using force to overthrow. But Tan's again does not change his mind to overthrow PAP, so actually it's a total different way from what we have now in Singapore and Malaysia! His is a total outdated path which we should not follow. Very strange Tun met and sided with them, may be can see Tun's ambitions against Singapore, he may be making use of them! Also I suggest Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) to be banned in next GE, as sided with the BS Barisan Sosialis the left-wing, Tan Wah Piow and many others following Vincent Cheng. These people all the same wish to overthrow PAP by the way of force!!
