He also paid tribute to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who met Dr Mahathir, as well as Mr Anwar and his wife, Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on May 19, 10 days after the Pakatan Harapan coalition won in Malaysia’s historic 14th general election.
“He was very very cordial, and it was a good gesture for him to be among the first to visit us after the election. These signals are important because it goes beyond diplomatic encounters and business deals,” Mr Anwar said.

Recognising that the task is arduous and that campaigning will be gruelling, Mr Anwar added that he is hopeful that he will win and enter parliament.
“When I assume the premiership, I will make sure that the first country I visit will be Singapore,” he added, to applause from the hall.

Have a feeling that if Anwar become the Prime Minister of Malaysia - Singapore and Malaysia relationship can be better.

Not that sanguine. Like Dr M, he relies on Singapore bashing to get support whether he be in government or opposition.

Masa Soh Mengming - Let give him the benefit of the doubt.

听其言,观其行。

He mention that it is "Not sensible to create problems between Singapore and Malaysia" - we will work with Malaysia based on this assumption as our foreign affair principles are :-
"Friends with All.
Adversaries with None.
Forge mutual benefits with win-win outcome".

Moreover both Singapore and Malaysia are ASEAN members - and in addition to mutual benefits, there are ASEAN community benefits by working together - as ASEAN is trying to shoot for the 4th largest Economic Bloc in the World - after US, China and EU --- which
is an "extraordinary benefits for all in this region" - if we succeed.

Note that US, China and EU - are about US$19 trillion Economy.
If ASEAN succeed as the 4th largest - our Economic Wealth is immense.

So don't see why Malaysia want to create problems with Singapore - it doesn't make sense - and it is short-sighted to do so -
whereby instead we should focus our effort in mutually creating wealth instead of focusing on unnecessary bickerings over trivial issues that hurts ties.

If Singapore is not law-abiding, not busines-like, not talking dollars and cents, none would be confident that Singapore's interests with regards to HRS project would be fairly peotected.
Singapore might not be compensated with150mill but 0 dollars n cents instead, even though it had aldy spent 2.5billion dollars, n HSR might also be suspensed with no certainty or scrapped instead of pushing bck for 2 years for final decision to kill it or compensate?

If Malaysia is not talking about $ & cent. Then why talk about 3sen water? Why not give it free to poor SG. Talk about relationship with SG by Anwar is still a long way to go. Can only see the true result when he is PM. Talk is cheap and it is free.

Lky once said 'running sg is not a game of cards, its my life and ur life, a few millions lives in my hand...'
Dear anwar, dollars n cents are important for the survival of a country, only a country is well to do, safe n secured... then its ppl will too...even cents x 32mil malaysians becomes very significant ok... do ur own calculation for malaysia n dont miscalculate n let ur malaysians down..

The very prominent culture Malaysia govt had, and hopefully really had, was corruption and let's hope it can stop with the new PH govt. But then this is not something that can be changed overnight when it is already so deep rooted.

And also about his give and take, we all know too well that who's doing all the giving and who's doing all the taking. That's probably why Malaysia can be a bit relax.

If Singapore is not too careful with it's dollars and cents, be business-like, and protect it's own interest legally, we probably would have been long makan by our cultured, relaxed, and all taking neighbour already.

Singapore must beware of this man! More vicious than Dr Mahathir! Malaysia was all peaceful until he came to destroy Malaysia in 1998 over power until recently at the expense of UMNO in the recent GE14. Protest after protest after protest then in order to consolidate the high office of Prime Ministership at the expense of the people. He's a fake politician and he never champions the people unlike UMNO-led Barisan Nasional with its pragmatic, non-populist policies! He and his coalition has done nothing, except for dropping projects, spooking investors away, Ringgit plunges further, silencing his political opponents, souring ties with China, etc. Disaster awaits us Singaporeans!

I hoped UMNO and PAS alliance can come up with something solid soon! Race and religious sentiment is all time high there. Just a short 4 months and the masses begun to reject them for their shocking liberalist views, their pushed for multiracialism which goes against Bumiputera policies, their unsound populist manifestos and many more. They will short-lived.

Singapore Govt must worked closely with UMNO's BN and PAS in the future and forged good rapports with its leaders! Majulah Singapura!

If SG is not business like, do you think you can get back $15 million 1MDB money so fast. Why the world want to do business with SG and not Malaysia? Simple, no want know whether the contract they sign is a toilet paper or real contract.

Said & done is 2 diffrent thing altogether. Lets watch whats next. Very interesting drama. Singapore & Malaysia is actually like a single Body. Saddly Dr M don;t understand & accept it cos after 30yrs, SGP with nothing has became the richest city in the world & M'sia with all the resourses has incur huge debt. Just like the 2 Airline SIA & MH.. I must admit that Live in M'sia & many other developing Asian countries are infacts better than most Singaporean. For this we have to thanks our Dollar & Cents GOVT. that deny our rightful pension and force us to take care of ourself while they pay themself by multi millions with our Tax Payer's money. Hope they'll realise their mistake soon and stop Taxing the poor S'porean. We deserve a better live as S;porean.
