Actually, our PM Lee can cordially invite both Mr Trump and Mr Xi to Singapore, a neutral & Arbitration Hub, to peacefully resolve the trade dispute over our delicious Roti Prata (Indian "pizza"), Fried Kway Tiao (fried black noodles- normally served with cockles), Hokkien Noodles (seafood noodle delight) and Hainanese Chicken Rice.

Is a very silly move for Trump to increase tariffs that converted to tax increased on finished products in which the American consumers are buying. Is like buy a stone to hit one's own toes. And to say American is better off without China ..this statement isn't it too late? Can American match the price of products manufactured in China? That is why GE, Ford and so many others big American firms closed down over the past years.

There is nothing the world can do to stop the rise of China. Throughout history, there were rise and fall of China, and all the falls of china were due to internal conflicts and weaknesses of the emperor that allowed external factors to work in the favour of many external foes outside China waiting to pound on China anytime. Now China is as strong as the era of Tang, Han and Song dynasty which are the strongest 3 dynasty of China. So i predict China will be strong for at least 500yrs from now. :)

Yeok Fong Yong US and the world seem to have forgotten that it was China that had helped in Apple' success by producing/selling 500,000 iphones per day that benefitted not only Apple but the rest of the world including US at a much affordable price of smart phone. So now if in future iphones are going to be fully manufactured and assembled in US, they will stand no chance against phones produced by samsung, huawei and others especially 5G phone is concerned. Also for decades China has been burning and clearing tons of rubbish from US and europe/japan with the chinese people enduring so many years of air polluation until now which China decided its time they can afford not to do so. Now this becomes a problem as 3rd world countries are slowly returning those rubbish disguised as 'recycle' items to the original richer countries including canada too. Now who is gona to burn the tons of rubbish produced by US/europe/Japan/canada which of cos has a simple soluation, that is rich countries also burn and clear their own rubbish. So u see, the rise of China has caused much problems to US/europe/japan/canada which they are trying to stop China rising.

@Eddie, how can you forget the Great Ming Dynasty, my friend, when the biggest and most advanced ships equipped with most advanced weapons and navigational equipment sailed on the oceans. The convoy almost reached the Cape of Good Hope, and by further northwards for a month or so would have reach Spain. It would be interesting to see how the Chinese interact with the Spaniards.
Those are the missed opportunity of China, otherwise today we'll not wear western suit and tie for formal occasions, judges will not wear wig and graduates will not wear mortalboards, and we'll not greet each other with handshakes.
Instead, we will wear Chinese robes on formal occasions, judges wear Chinese headgears, and greet each other with 2 fists put together and kneel down to our superiors.
Many countries will not have Chinatowns because the countries all filled with Chinese people.
Chinese will be the international language and language of trade.
