NDR 2019: Protecting Singapore from rising sea levels in the long-term could cost at least $100B

(1) Some people balk at the idea of need to spend $100 billion to build coastal defence - which mean more tax to citizens.

(2) But building seawall through polder is actually reclaiming lands.

(3) The extra land reclaimed can be used to build houses, offices and buildings that can generate revenue through sales or leases - so that it can cover and recoup the $100 billion.
