The area around Shangri-La Hotel Singapore has been designated as a special event area for the upcoming summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
This was announced in a public order published in the Government Gazette online on Sunday (Jun 3). Extra security measures will be in force for the period between Jun 10 and 14.
Other locations that have been mentioned as possibilities include The Fullerton Hotel in the Marina Bay area and Capella in Sentosa. There has been no confirmation of the venue for the summit.

So look like Shangri-La is the chosen site for the Summit.

No need to replan everything - as the Shangrila Dialogue that host many Head of State has just ended - and all security protocol are in place.

So why has the Capella been fully booked according to Bloomberg reports? The distance from Capella to Shangri-la is congested and needs to cross a bridge if the US delegation is just staying in Capella. The navy will have to be involved to guarantee security for the trip between Capella and Shangri-la.

Maybe the Sentosa hotel is for backup?
Maybe if the event take more than 1 day - it may happen in Shangri-La in 1 day and another day in Sentosa?
Maybe it is classified where the Summit will eventually take place until 1 or 2 days before the event.

At the same time, a "pre-advance" US team was in Singapore to meet North Koreans.
In Singapore, a team of US officials, with a fleet of idling vehicles on standby, was at a hotel on the resort island of Sentosa but declined to comment.

Some news say Shangri-La is a possible site.
Strangely US team for advance recce is spotted on Sentosa.

Hm Hm ..... look like Shangri-La, Sentosa are possible sites ...... so the sites for the Summit are still not decided.

Will the highway and roads be suddenly blocked and secured like the last time when the US president visited Spore? Many will be inconvenienced and I was stucked in traffic for 2 hours. Better don’t come Spore; no value add

Actually if the Summit is held in Sentosa - then it will be easy to protect and secure.
Also it will not choke up the city traffic.

Sentosa also have very posh convention centre, hotel and nice sea view.
Also think that Sentosa has helipad for landing.

Only need to secure the Sentosa gateway (1 main road).
Can also be surrounded by warships for quick exit.
Or can be helipad to Changi Airport.

When Trump Air Force 1 and Kim Airplane land in Changi Airport - 3 possible path to reach Sentosa :-
(1) Limousine land route - via east cost to nicholl highway to Keppel to Sentosa.
(2) Warship to Sentosa
(3) Heliborne from Changi Airport to Sentosa.

SENTOSA ISLAND
There's media speculation that North Korea would prefer the secluded island resort of Sentosa, located about 20 minutes from the city center, because of security reasons.

Amanda Wee-Loke - Let us look at it this way, if US and N Korea cannot reconcile - N Korea nuke US, US nuke N Korea ---- the catastrophic scenarios will be an unimagineable Holocaust.

The nuclear fallout will radiate more than 3,000 km in an open nuclear explosion --- and the whole of SE Asia will be covered in nuclear radiation fallout - including Singapore.

The Global Economy will be devastated.

Depending on how many nuclear bombs are exploded - it may even turn the whole Earth into a nuclear winter ---- and all Humanity will die a terrible death.

So isn't it a small price to pay for hosting the Peace Talk - that will save all Humanity on Earth?

Also a few thousand reporters and delegates will come and take up hotel rooms and increase retail spendings - that will spur a mini-Economic boom that will have a small multiplier effect on Singapore Economy.

Lance C Alta - cannot understand what is this got to do with any political party?

Isn't this common sense? Why so difficult to understand?

You mean only PAP can think of such things? Non-PAP like you cannot think of such things?

No wonder PAP deserve to govern, but not non-PAP.

Singapore should consider some site for future importance events for our VIP guests....places like pasir panjang, paya labar, Changi seaside,....these places are easily for the VIP to escape if something crop up....by air lift or by speed boat.....theze side i include big threatre, conference room, leisure doom, etc..

Actually Sentosa Island is the best site. Least disruption to traffic and the public.

If concerned about items "capable of being used to mark graffiti", permanent markers should also be in the list.

I wonder why always Shangri-La. Is Singapore paying for the entire package?

Look at google map of its location and you will know why. It is on hill top and all roads are controlled. Surrounded by private estate, any outsider has to use the road to come in.

By organising in the heart of Singapore ( Shangri La Hotel ) will cause unnecessary manpower and inconvience to the General public , since we have a isolated island ( sentosa ) , these type of special events should be held there instead .....why cause unnecessary inconvience to us ? By lookimg at the radius of extra security measures , holding in the city area will cause traffic jams and also wasting more manpower

Why cant the two fatties just sign and make peace on board a US aircraft carrier and leave us alone.... the whole bloody Orchard so crowded and on top of that, we have to foot the bill. Go to somewhere Changi Naval Base or Woodlands and leave us alone. So Freaking crowded already.
