"So, it’s based on my interactions with their staff, as well as meeting them personally up front - both are supremely confident, both are hopeful. I think at an emotional level, both of them want something significant out of this summit." But can the world trust Kim, that he is committed to denuclearisation and ending the Korean War? Dr Balakrishnan said: "My sense of it is that there is a real desire for change. He said that he now wants to focus on economic development. "And having had the advantage of actually visiting Pyongyang, and actually seeing how much they have been able to achieve despite the legacy of the war and the sanctions, there is no doubt that the North Koreans are a determined, proud, enterprising, disciplined people. "And that is why I left with that sense, supposing they were allowed to participate as a normal country, open up to the world, access the technology through trade, there is so much that they could do. So I think that he is also working on that hope that this is a new phase, a new opportunity." --

Ricky Lim · Singapore There are 2 sides of the coin ： ---- one side say it is a conspiracy theory - a summit as delaying tactics ---- ie. pessimistic view of the intent ---- 人之初，性本恶。(People with this assumption - will bring vicious cycle of war and confrontation to resolve issue - even though peace is possible).
---- I prefer to look at the bright side, the optimistic side of the story - that the Summit is a real desire to Denuke, to seek a Peace Treaty, to seek Security Assurance and to integrate with the World Economic Community --- like all other Nations such as China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia are doing ----- 人之初，性本善。(People with this assumption to resolve issue - will bring peace and prosperity - for this reason Asia Pacific has seen many decades of peace and no war ---- because of this pretext.)
Arguing who is right, is no point.
Watching the development, while Singapore do what we can to facilitate - to help in the success of the Peace Summit ---- is a Noble Cause that Singapore can do.
The final outcome will speak for itself.
Remembering how China under the leadership of Deng Xiao Ping coax by the then Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew ---- has successfully encourage China to emerge from isolation to be now the 2nd Largest Economy of the World.
Now leading the same Noble cause is the current Prime Minister, the son of Mr Lee Kuan Yew --- to do a similar feat to coax N Korea President Kim Jong Un to do a similar feat - like what China did, many decades ago. Like · Reply · 1m
